Lady of the Lake

The Lady of the Lake is a powerful Enchantress supposedly blessed by Waukeen, The Poet. She is believed to have originally hailed from Arden, and now is one of the many patrons of the famous Knights of the Grail. Many claim that she was a beautiful half-elf in her time on Ardicil, that brokered the peace between the elves, men and dwarves of Eriadol, against the forces of the Traitor Gods.   The Lady is known to appear throughout all of Ardicil, particularly at the Glamdring Pools, the Blooming Lake, around The Crescent and many other pools, lakes, ponds and bodies of water all around Ardicil.

History

The rumors about the Lady of the Lake's history is shrouded in mythology and tall tales. Many various scholarly instituions have poised at least three primary stories of her origin. The first, postulated by the scholars and clerics from Tormhold, is that the Lady of the Lake was the spawn of a love affair by an elven noble and her human paramour, a noble and gallant knight. They sired the Lady, named her Nimue, who later returned to unite her parent's kingdoms after being blessed by Waukeen, The Poet.   The second story, concocted by the magi from the Isle of Winds, believe the Lady's otherworldly looks come from her parentage of both a cambion of the hells, and a solar of the outer planes. The two joined in union, and each was banished from their homeplanes for their love, and forced to endure a mortal life, until they would eventually be seperated forever. Once the Lady was of age, her parents were once again banished from the material plane. The Lady reached out to Waukeen, who led her to the Glamdring Pools, where she was blessed with a holy chalice that blessed her already strong powers, making her even stronger. She became Waukeen's champion, a noble envoy used to broker peace with the cities of arcanum.   The final story, one espoused by the elves of Gondolin was that the Lady was a powerful Archfey, who fell in love with a brave and noble human who lacked the power to protect his people. The lady bade her lover to the nearby lake, where he found a blessed blade and the strength to protect his home from the errant magical abberations created by the dangerous magi of a city of arcanum.
