Skophos
Skophos is built in the skeletons and ghostly halls of a once great city that had sunk beneath the ground after a devastating earthquake. The causes of said earthquake vary from history to history, with some attributing the fall of the city to a great weapon being set off during the War of Arcanum. While others claim the fledging city was sunk in the aftermath, caused by a gathering of cultists dedicated to Tok, Titan of the Plane of Earth. Others attribute the earthquake to a punishment caused by Kelemvor, The Judge, who sought to smite its population of unholy priests dedicated to Myrkul, The Lord of Bones.
Regardless, only the surface areas have been repopulated, while the underlayers remain either unexplored or blocked off. There are rumors of monsters and spirits lurking beneath the surface layers of the former city. Archeologists and adventurers flock from all corners of Varda, descending and braving the depths of the lower levels in search for ancient treasure.
