Morduin

Morduin is a predominantly dwarven nation located in the Vasrim Alps west of Maenor and the Canmar Desert. Like many of the other dwarven kingdoms, it is considerably older than many of the predominantly human nations of the world. In fact, it is one of the oldest nations on Balukthur aside from possibly Maenor, which was founded after the Draconic Revolution.

History

Morduin's exact founding date is unknown to much of the common people of the world, save those who live inside of the nation itself and learned scholars. It is also unique in that it is one of the only nations to remain completely removed from the Great Iribalt War, a status that very few nations possess. Several thousand years ago, Morduin also perfected the art of creating Morduinian Steel, for which it would become famous (and infamous).

Demography and Population

The vast majority of Morduin is dwarvish, which has always been reflected in the Thrann, all of which are of the dwarven houses. Beyond this, the only other races that can be reliably found are dragonborn (due to the nation's proximity to Maenor), genasi, and gnomes.

Territories

The Vasrim Mountains on Balukthur.

Religion

The official state religion is the Thorlin dur Mordinsamman, the religion that worships the Mordinsamman, or the Dwarven pantheon.

Foreign Relations

Morduin is closely allied with Maenor. Outside of this relationship, Morduin attempts to remain mostly neutral. However, it does not get along well Rokalotse, the Ulsterian Empire, and has a somewhat strained relationship with Tanithael. This is only made more difficult by the Undying Council, which while technically not undead, are seen as an abomination and atrocity by the dwarves of Morduin as their culture maintains a deep respect and veneration of death and the dead.
