The Ukedaya Affair

The Ukedaya Affair marks one of many such instances of Shogunal military actions against the isolated revolutionary groups seeking to precipitate uprisings and unrest throughout the country during the later months of 1206. As part of The Red Autumn of that year, a revolutionary group by the codename, The Wings of Change--responsible for fomenting violent uprising in the town of Uji, as well as the assassination of prominent political and aristocratic figure Tokito Moriyama--would eventually be tracked down and slain by members of the government's elite secret police force, the Kagerougumi. This event culminated in a long investigation and eventual raid of the revolutionary party's base of operations, the Ukedaya Inn.
