Filyn'Drast
Pronunciation - /FIL-uhn-drahst/
The city of Filyn'Drast is eaily the most fantastical city on either half of Argent. The founding elves who first built it had the magic of their bloodlines, the inborn power of flight, and the long-lived time to craft a city unlike any other that has ever and may ever be known for a very long time. Perfect spires, domes, and flying buttresses grace the skyline of a capital that is beautiful from any angle. Airship docks among the highest buildings announce the coming and goings of the most powerful members of society while the flight of the city's inhabitants themselves punctuates every moment with the awe of observing such grace as an everyday occurrence.
Filyn'Drast presents itself as a utopia, boasting the highest academies of magic anywhere on Argent and an average standard of living far above nearly any other place in the world. The people have every convenience of life available to them though comparative miracles of technology that many even in Murinechire wouldn't even dream of. Though the mousefolk city to the wind may be the center of trade, Filyn'Drast has plenty of economic and industrial backing, especially when it comes to the production of magical tools, machinery, and air-based technology. There is a bustling industrial undercurrent to the city as a result, and working people have every ability to find a place as a wealthy aristocrat.
The academies of Filyn'Drast have trained the greatest Wizards that Argent has ever seen in the modern era, though Sear has traditionally been the seat of magical knowledge in Argent since the time of the true Dragonkind to the modern Archons, the contemporary shift in availability of magic to those capable of making their way to the city and proving their capability to the headmasters has resulted in a powerful upswing in the prevalence of base-level magical talent among the populace if not the Seddenese population as a whole. With the need to power many magical devices through the use of basic magical spells, the ability for a worker to produce a serviceable magical effect opens up a world of opportunity as the member of a crew on an airship, or perhaps even a Crustaini submarine.
Technology permeates the culture and life of Fily'Drast. Communication, transportation, and even basic services like food and drink service are amplified or modified to fit the availability of small conveniences of magic or technology. Mage hand moves items around in every conceivable setting, message communicates in ways far more convenient than other available options, and spells that produce heat and flame create sources of energy to power all manner of important functions from industry to the personal use of the wealthy. The cultural influence of Filyn'Drast has been slowly expanding across Sedden for several centuries, and it is possible to see the results in various ways across the continent. The Broadcrags introduction of airship-based transportation hubs in response to the output of Fily'Drazi airships, the use of magical technology by the wealthy across the continent at the bare minimum, and the general upswing in academic influence on the populace is undeniably shifting landscapes from personal to political in ways that may not be entirely predictable even now.
