Friya

A land built on adventure and craftsmanship, Friya finds itself sat in the awkwardly placed lands between the Omen'an and the Amber Ocean. With the fiends to the east, and the dangerous sands to the west, Friya is a hub for explorers and mercenaries who wish to make their living digging up artifacts in the deserts of Amber or reclaiming lost riches from the bandits and brigands of Omen'an. With many flocking to the land to utilize their expert crafting skills to make equipment for these daring adventurers, it's economy sells itself. Food, construction, and really any non-adventuring service comes secondary, and often comes exported.   Friya is a plutocracy, ran by a council of both merchants and adventurers alike known as the Sword and Hammer commission. Started just over a ninety years ago, the S&H commission exists to protect the rights of craftsman and merchants from being bullied or muscled by the adventurers and explorers who venture out in to the wilds, and to keep those adventurers from being starved when the hunting isn't as bountiful. The commission protects both their rights, and enforces a universal basic income among the citizens of the region, to encourage risk taking from residents and immigration into such a dangerous and volatile environment.     The capital city of Bladewright is a build atop the ruins of an ancient dragon city, presumably blue based on the architecture. Massive metal rods lay across the land, once standing tall but now toppled, still mildly charged from their days before the flood. The city was massive, and remains such, as adventurers of all kinds risk their lives delving into the layers beneath Bladewright in hopes of ancient riches. Those who aren't confident in their skill delving into the dungeon use this place as a hub for adventure or a place to find assistance. Explorers who require guards to ancient tombs, small towns in need of assistance with demons, and everything in between and find themselves looking to Bladewright when a sellsword is needed.   The ruined draconic city beneath Bladewright, known to archaeologists as Erisna, seems to go as deep as the world is thick. Each year adventurers discover new riches beneath the surface, and with each layer uncovered a new wave of hopefuls find themselves attracted by the tales of riches and fame to delve both into the dungeon and into the wilds that can be found in nearly any direction of Friya.

Culture

Even though the original residents of Friya were foreign, the lifestyle that they've developed over years of this new strange and adventurous way of life has shaped their existence in strange ways. Children here are taught to fight almost as early as they're taught to read. Every resident prays their child is the next hero to claim the prize at the end of the next floor of the great dungeon beneath the capital.

Military

Though there is no formal army or anything similar under the commission, the commission does have a state sponsored system for encouraging independent adventuring careers. Those who are born in Friya or are otherwise raised here are welcomed to the various schools dedicated to the art of adventuring within Bladewright. Schools related to magical theory, archaeology, desert and wasteland survival, combat of all kinds, and so on attract all kinds of bright eyes. Those native to Friya are incentivized to keep their adventuring business within the land by being given better treatment, easier access to sponsorships, and earlier access to opportunity when posted.

Foreign Relations

The only nation besides Omen'an that Friya shares a border with is Unity, and their relationship with Unity is complex, but positive. Though the Unitian leadership would prefer a nation built on violence not be so close, they've many agreements on what laws should apply to the nation. Friya has many strict laws on what a monster is and isn't. When a dragon is slain, that's fine, but when peaceful goblins are murdered and removed from their homes, that's a crime. Friya is also one of the many nations to formally declare their aggreeance to the UUAG. These laws have kept the relations between the two positive, with the Unitian embassy in Bladewright often being included in the legal process.
