Entertainment District of Central Tilth
In Central Tilth's entertainment district, caste loses all meaning and the profane and profound dance hand in hand. Everyone you meet is polite enough to act deaf, mute, and blind. Except for the Medache who ever spy for the Ploui.
Sandwiched between the Residential District and the Mercantile District, the Entertainment District is a riotous cacophony of sensory overload full of wonders to behold and dangers to beware. The air is filled with music and conversation, the calls of the barkers, the lewd suggestions of the sex workers, the scraping yells and meaty thwaks of a fistfight. A miasma of dust, biological waste, savory meats, and spiced fruit creates a cloying aroma that sticks to the skin and clothes of anyone who lingers for more than a few hours.
Geography
The ED is the outermost district of the city that is not completely covered by the Bubble Wall's open dome shape.
Localized Phenomena
In fact, the top edge of the wall sits directly over the central avenue of the district, making the entire area alive with a gently moving breeze that stirs the dust enough to dry a person's sweat.
Climate
Like all of Tilth, the climate of the city is hot and dry, recieving less than 2.5 cm of rainfall every year, and almost none of it ever touching the ground inside the city.
Because of this, the entertainment district is filled with lurid advertisiments in the windows and on the awnings of businesses informing the public that they use chillers, misters, fans, and other air-cooling devices to offer relief from the oppressive streets. This lends most venues either charging admission or else having a food/drink/service minimum purchase.
Counterintuitively, the places that do not advertise such luxuries are often the higher-class establishments. Utilizing disguised entrances, these technically-not-private spaces offer much finer products and services, but only to those who know where to find them.
Fauna & Flora
Due to being half exposed by the Bubble Wall, the ED is a popular place to see Winged Sand Foxes diving into the city through the open sky, wheeling on the rising hot air currents, dodging projectiles hurled at them by the ruling and merchant castes, and otherwise having a grand time kipping and rolling and fluttering around.
It is just as likely to see them scampering around on the ground, pouncing on small rodents and insects, begging treats from people, and even flying off with the odd unattended sweet roll!
Natural Resources
The industrious nature of the people who have figured a way out of the caste system by making their way as entertainers.
History
People need two things: sustinence and entertainment. Bread and theater, if you will.
Tourism
To visit Central Tilth is to visit the ED. Unless the only entertainments you enjoy are shopping and parks, then anything and everything that anyone and everyone might be interested in doing can be found in the entertainment district. Dance halls, theaters, casinos, brothels, gaming halls, animal bating rings, sports arenas, unregulated apothecaries, all of these and more can be found in the ED. And the quality of service is as varied as the type.
