Beastfolk

The Beastfolk are an uncommon sight. Hailing from the jungle-covered islands of Oposs, their origins are largely unknown. However, it is speculated they arose naturally from the native wildlife's exposure to magic. Beastfolk come in many different shapes and sizes, but some features are universal. They are covered in short fur, have a tail, stand on two digitigrade legs, have two arms, and a whiskered snout. They mature at about the same rate as humans, reaching adulthood at 16. Due to their cultural seclusion of the elderly, it is unknown how old Beastfolk can become. The different forms of Beastfolk are deeply connected to the various greater families and can be classified as follows:

Maca

Looking like humanoid cats, they are generally the smallest in stature of all lineages, aside from some of the smallest Lutu. Their family structure is complex and ever-shifting as alliances are redrawn. They are often named based on the pattern of their fur, which is used in a fortune-telling ceremony at birth. They are also the only lineage able to retract their claws.

Asi

Ranging from jackal- to bearlike in form, the Asi have tall and broad builds with pointed or rounded ears. They value close-knit families, that aren't necessarily blood-related, and are fiercely loyal. Their names can range from simple sounds to being named after things found in nature. Due to their larger stature, they are often the first to step up for jobs requiring manual labor.

Soro

A mix of Maca and Asi blood developed into the Soro lineage. Resembling humanoid foxes, the Soro are known for their uncanny ability to blend in wherever they go. They carry features from both major lineages, resulting in them being shrewd and political, while remaining loyal to their closest allies.

Lutu

A lagomorph lineage characterized by large, rounded, or oval ears, and shorter tails. Shorter Lutu are more mouse-like, while taller Lutu resemble hare-like humanoids. They are fast and nimble, even compared to other Beastfolk. This lineage values large families and follows a strict warrior's code.

Vanaren

A curious subspecies of Beastfolk that more closely resemble the various Peoples. They consider themselves separate from the common Beastfolk, which most Beastfolk disagree with.
