The Weeping Maiden

Grief is often such a perculiar thing. No matter how badly your heart is broken, the world does not stop for you. - Kaykori Solidor   Carved into the white, northern cliffside of the Solidor Harbor, the Weeping Maiden is a stone depiction of Kaykori Solidor, a previous queen of the Kingdom of Velant. Standing at an impressive 150 ft, the queen had the literal weeping statue of herself commissioned after her lover tragically passed, a monument to forever symbolize her devotion to him and her sorrow at his loss. It was built by the dwarven stonesmiths of Volgrim, and is said to have taken nine years to complete.   The crying sculpture houses a network of catacombs within, and now serves as a landmark that can only be accessed via the harbor. Within the catacombs are resting places for those who were close and loyal to Kaykori Solidor, though after recent explorations of the underground network it seems the area was used for a far more sinister purpose. Some symbols to the Fallen Ancient Nex line the corridors, and magical residue from Necromantic rituals still remain. This discovery has caused some members of Velant's government to consider the possibility that Kaykori Solidor may not have been content to simply lay her lover to rest...
