The Luin Range

The Luin Range

From east to west where the Devil's Beaches end the south border of Ardarock is a great mountain range. It is know as the Luin Range because there is a rare metal found within mountains stone. This metal is known as Luin and when mixed with iron and other minerals creates a steel that is stronger than almost anything. The mountains of the known Luin Range are between two and four miles tall. The Luin Range spans far beyond what is shown in most maps, there is leagues of unexplored mountains going south from the Luin Range. These parts of the mountains are are home to cities ruled by Hobgoblin Walords, Orc Kings, and other former servants of the dragons who ruled deep part of the Luin Range. When the Dragons fell to sleep during The Eternal Slumber, their servants were left to fight amongst themselves. Some of these servants have formed great cities that are often ruled by a Hobgoblin Walords or some Evil King. These Kings are often Orcs, Ogres, and sometimes Goblins. The number of Kingdoms in the deeper parts of the Luin Range is unknown and little is understood about the relationship between them.

There is two Dwarven Castles built from the Mountains of the Luin Range that are apart of Ardarock. The Castle Frayn is built from the stone of the mountain Hymalore and is the capital of the Beuw Kingdom. There is also the Kingdom of IronCrane a city state built around different castles and mines. IronCrane is built from the mountain Sebilese, many mountains around IronCrane are full of the outstretched mines of Kingdom of IronCrane. The Castle Frayn also has many mines that run deep threw the neighboring mountains of Hymalore, although they pale in comparison to the mines of IronCrane. Both Castle Frayn and IronCrane have underground cities within the mountains of IronCrane that are home to primarily Dwarves, animal folk, and elves. These cities often are home to over ten thousand people and are often subject to raids from many different creatures. Most common these raids are done by Orcs, Goblins, Hobgoblins, along with different beasts of the underground. These underground cities are ruled by Barons and are often seen as cursed assignments.

The deeper parts of the Luin Range are rumored to have mountains that are over five miles tall. These mountains are said to be home to some of the dragons of the second age who waged war against each other and the Kingdoms of the world. There are stories of ancient dragons who survived the second creation living in the deep parts of the Luin Range. These dragons are said to have fought against both Elven and Giant Kingdoms of both Ardarock and Aldarock. One dragon who's name was Moorepelko is told to have taken the Storm Kings Beuw left foot in a battle. Moorepelko also is told to have killed the Giant brothers Fiengin and Grintore when they challenged her to a duel. The duel was for one of the many lost Kingdoms of the Silvas and after Moorepelko tore the giant brothers apart she claimed the Kingdom for her own. The duel is written about in a poem by written by the giant Silamus and the poem is called "Brothers against Fear her self." This poem has been lost since the dragon Wishspear conquered the Silvas Kingdom known as Durmooreden.

Some believe the deeper parts of the Luin Range are so vast they reach east and meet the mountains of Aldarock. Scholars speculate that the mountains of the Luin Range may connect to the Great Tooth Alps and Silva's range because of the similar texts from the Giants of the Beuw Kingdom and Craigden. There is little proof beyond these similar stories and the fact that no boat has ever returned from sailing south past the gulf between the Luin Range and the Great Tooth Alps. Other scholars believe that the gulf expands into a wild ocean that consumes the boats in a violent storm. Those scholars believe the mountains of Ardarock and Aldarock are separate. They explain that great dragons such as Moorepelko could easily have hoards across multiple continents and Kingdoms. Until definitive text that is written by a notable giant scholar is found. The subject on if the south mountains ranges of Ardarock and Aldarock will stay a debate.
