Zaina Goodbarrel
High Priestess of Kelemvor
Zaina Goodbarell was born in Rivertide to Oleg and Mollicent Goodbarrel, coopers working with the Foxbriar winery. At age three, her parents succumbed to the Seven Year Plague while delivering wine to Redacre. With no family to take her in, the young Zaina was cared for by an orphanage affiliated with the Church of Kelemvor.
Through her childhood, she excelled in her theological studies and liturgial practice, eventually entering the Kelemvorean priesthood. At age forty-four, she became curate to the church's High Priest Vicenzi.
When Vicenzi was murdered by devils in search of Shar's divine spark, Zaina guided the Sodality through this first crisis, at which point they elected Priggles of Rivertide the as the new High Priest. Regrettably, his reign was short and disastrous for the city.
The Red Realm's army had been turned back by The Unkillable Bastards once, but on their second attempt they succeeded in taking the city. They slayed the highest-ranking clerics, except Priggles, who was placed into a magical stasis. Zaina escaped, and led resistance forces (the Lollipop Guild) in their insurgency.
When the city was reclaimed from the invading army, Goodbarrel arranged elections for Kelemvorean elders, who would elect the Sodality, who would elect a High Priest. Zaina Goodbarrel was elected unanimously by the Sodality on June 1, 1500.
