Quiris' Hands
The oxygen of Kinar, Quiris' hands is vital to the operation and sustainablity of the nation. Since Kinar has no resources at all the merchants guild imports everything, including food because of this it is no suprise that the guild is one of the founding members of the Council. The guilds responsibillity is to make sure there is enough food for all of Kinar's citizens regularly, there are plenty of resources for the people to invest in, and that prices stay managable not only for Kinar as a nation but most especially for its citizens.
One of the duties of the guild is to make sure that there is no price gouging happing in and to Kinar, so Quiris' Hands works closely with the army, and the Jizar to ensure that everyone is being treated fairly. Although it is possible for Kinarans to import their own goods, most place orders through the guild to stock their businesses because they have the contacts, and discounts. Most small businesses in Kinar find the tariffs and connections to frustrating to navigate to buy their own materials. In this way Quiris' Hands are in all aspects of the Kinaran economy.
The guild got its name from Quiris herself over a millennia ago during one of the Goddess's journeys around Astesh. She had been hearing about how connected and profitable Kinar's merchants guild was, and wanted to evaluate it herself. After infiltrating and scouring the company from top to bottom Quiris realized that it was the kind of business she wanted to be affiliated with, so she revealed herself and dubbed the guild Quiris' Hands.
Structure
Due to the sheer size of the merchant's guild, and its responsibilities to Kinar there are many different ranks and positions that one can hold within it. This is a breakdown of the top positions in Quiris's Hands.
- Director of Merchants The Director of Merchants is responsible for ensuring that the guild runs smoothly, helping run Kinar's government, and maintaining foreign relations. The Director of Merchants is also responsible for maintaining and proposing Kinar's budget quarterly. They are the first to consult about getting funding for new projects in the city.
- Treasurer As the Director is very busy with maintaining the nation's finances the treasurer is responsible for maintaining the guilds budget and overseeing paychecks. Additionally, they frequently consult with legal regarding uncovering financial crimes that affect both Kinar and its people.
- Legal Legal is responsible for the uncovering and persecution of financial crimes against Kinar. They also draft contracts and ensure that they are followed by both parties. Occasionally they will help the Director write proposed laws.
- Shipping Shipping's main duty is to ensure the regularity and ease of shipments into Kinar. At one point they were mainly just logistics, but as time has moved on and products made by Kinaran's became more popular outside of the nation, they moved into also ensuring outgoing packages had regular and easy delivery. Naturally, this department also developed into Kinar's mail system and is partially funded by taxpayers who enjoy having regular mail delivery.
- Sales Sales is what it seems to be, it facilitates deals with foreign businesses on behalf of Kinar, and occasionally for local business owners. This department also oversees distributing purchased goods amongst local merchants and providing the meals for Kinar's free food service.
