Naira Urthador
The Champion Naira Urthador
"So, firstly, this is our illustrious leader, Naira Urthador. Powerful as she is beautiful, and unwavering as the rising and setting of the sun each day. A mighty paladin, branded as the Champion of A’letid—but known to those close to her as ‘Mother Bear’.” - Arturo Gellantara
Naira is the leader of an adventuring group called The Wayfarers, and is responsible for gathering all of the members and is the glue that keeps them together when disagreements threaten to disrupt the group dynamic. She is passionate, willful, respectful, and humble despite those that laud her with praise and wish to curry favor with the Order of A’letid (her resident church) by ingratiating themselves to her. Ever since birth, she has been conditioned to serve and further the will of A’letid, the goddess of Balance. She serves as the Champion, a war priest, considered to be the physical embodiment of A’letid; she is constantly in the public eye, representing the tie between A’letid and her people, and is often called to be “the face” of negotiations. She acts on behalf of the Order, whether in missions to hunt down high-profile criminals or in public acts of generosity; and must always be mindful of who she is and what she represents. It is a rare moment to see her relax, and it is often only in the company of fellow Wayfarers that she lets down her guard.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Endomorph. Curvy build. Wields her height and her weight proudly, sporting wide hips that surpass her admittedly broad shoulders. Is in general very curvy and heavy set, especially emphasized in her hips and bust; a bit too thick around the waist to be hourglass, but it's a close thing.
Body Features
Hair: Dark Red-Brown. Very thick, straight and long, reaching down to her waist. However, when she's out and about or in battle, she'll keep it in a neatly plaited braid. She has bangs that are parted down the middle.
Skin: Brown/Ochre--Copper/Orange-Red undertones. Mildly freckled, concentrated on her arms and face.
Facial Features
Oval Face. Flat, broad features, giving her a regal but powerful look. Has high cheekbones and low-lidded eyes, and soft laugh lines around her full lips which sport a cupid's bow.
Identifying Characteristics
She has piercings in her ears, and Aletid's symbol tattooed on her forehead in the gap between her bangs. It's a triskelion in the center of a sun. She also just tends to stand out in a crowd.
Special abilities
She wields divine magic, granted by A'letid, and often uses it to heal others.
Apparel & Accessories
She relishes her femininity, but as a paladin she also has a gritty edge to her, and doesn't spend as much energy as she'd like on her appearance. (Excepting formal occasions, where she gets to go full-out). The one thing that she keeps on top of is her hygiene, and her hair. Hair maintenance is a daily routine, and her hair is the pride and joy of her appearance.
She wears very simple and modest when she's not decked out in her half-plate armor. The normal attire for her order; and special ceremonial robes when she's able to attend services.

Personal history
Ever since she was born, Naira has been able to hear A'letid's voice guiding her. Perhaps this was due to her being sired by none other than the High Priest of A'letid, or perhaps it was because the amount of divine magic used during her birth to ensure both her and her mother's survival. Either way, there was never much question as to what Naira's calling in life would be. She was destined to become A'letid's new Champion; to succeed the current Champion when she inevitably fell in the line of battle... as all Champions do.
Thus began Naira's tutoring, as priests and teachers and weapon-masters swanned in and out of her life, guiding her and shaping her into the holy weapon she was born to be. The only constant in her life was the presence of her father, Izzaldin Urthador, whose approval she sought above even that of A'letid's, and the warmth of her mother, Sayen Xochitl, who reminded Naira that despite her destiny as a conduit for the Goddess, she was still only human, and owed herself kindness. However, though Sayen had survived Naira's birth, it had left her weakened; and while her spirit and her love for her Goddess and her family stayed strong, her body could not. She was received into A'letid's welcoming embrace before Naira had reached seven autumns, leaving behind only her bracelet and her gilded hairbrush and mirror for her daughter to remember her by.
Even after the passing of her mother, Naira did not falter in her path, preserving through her schooling and her training with a single-minded determination that could rival the most fanatic of zealots. Izzaldin, seeing only the good that his daughter's determination could bring, did not find cause for concern for several years, continuing to train Naira as both a noble representative and a conduit of the Goddess--ignoring the well-intentioned concerns of the more compassionate and soft-hearted priests--until she had reached ten autumns.
It was Naira's first attendance to one of the Order's meetings; whereupon the current Champion was recounting the results of their latest mission. A heretic responsible for the death of scores of A'letid's followers had been caught, and was to be brought to trial. The Champion had been about to put a final end to the wretched creature, but it had pleaded for mercy, so the Champion assented and put him on trial instead of ending him then and there. After the meeting, when Izzaldin asked the young Naira to divulge her thoughts about the Champion's conduct, she replied, "She should have killed him anyway." In that moment, Izzaldin realized he had committed a great wrong against his daughter, and had been too lacking in affection and had not promoted compassion enough --he had failed at instilling the idea of balance between justice and mercy in his daughter; having only been teaching her how to kill, how to root out heretics, and how to play the twisted mind games of the nobles. He had not catered to the needs of her once-soft heart, and it had hardened in his neglect.
Izzaldin had prayed for many days and nights for A'letid's guidance, knowing that the balance must be reset for his daughter to find peace and for her to rediscover A'letid's path. The answer to the prayer came in the form of a young half-elf boy named Dimitri, whom Izzaldin decided to take in and raise as his own child, alongside Naira.
Naira, ignorant to her father's ulterior motives, only saw a frail, younger boy in need of her protection; and unbeknownst to her, the sight of him alone reawoke the warmth of her heart that had faded in her mother's passing. As they grew, Dimitri's independence inspired her, his devotion to A'letid invigorated her, his perceived weakness rallied her protective tendencies, his coldness emphasized her warmth, his callousness allowed her to be soft, and his stubbornness matched her own. She grew to love him as only an older sister could, showering him with affection, the unused parts of her heart finally finding use as they years went on. He did not respond in kind, but Naira was certain that he felt the same way.
This was proven--in a way that altered their destined courses for the better--on the eve of Naira's 15th birthday, when Dimitri, for reasons unbeknownst to Naira, insisted that she stay in his room for the night. He said nothing save that he had had a terrible dream the night before and that he would feel more at ease if Naira spent the night in his room. Though bewildered, Naira assented to his request. She fell asleep, and woke to a priest shaking her awake, eyes wild and terrified, asking if she was alright, if she'd been hurt. Naira, still half-asleep, and insisted that she was fine, alarmed to find that the priest had pulled her into a hug, and demanded to know what was going on--but the priest would not answer her, only telling her to get up and get dressed, for they had been summoned and were needed elsewhere. Awoken fully by the alarm in the priest's tone, Naira had heeded his order as quickly as possible, and allowed herself to be guided through the Order's halls, disturbed by how despite the late hours, everyone was awake, buzzing with tension and fear.
They arrived at their destination, and Naira found that they had entered the Inner Court of the Order, the room heavy with a low-simmering anger. At the table were several of the high priests, including her father, but the odd sight was the presence of her brother, bruised and bloodied, and a stranger, who was bound to a chair. When she demanded to know what was going on, her father, his tone full of pride, said, "It appears your brother has single-handledy thwarted an assassination attempt."
That was the turning point in their lives; for Izzaldin finally recognized the shape their intertwined destinies were forming, and declared that Dimitri was to be trained as A'letid's Left Hand, to be an Inquisitor of the Order. Where Naira was Light, Dimitri would be Dark. Where Naira would remain clean and unsullied as A'letid's Champion, Dimitri would tread into the shadows and would bear the stains of those associations with dirtied hands. They would be a balanced whole; the public face and the unobserved lurker. Though Naira did not wish for such a fate to be cast upon her beloved, loyal brother, she also understood it was not her place to question such things; especially when A'letid herself seemed to favor the arrangement.
From then on, the two were tied together by Fate and by divine ordinance. When the current Champion fell, the mantle was passed onto Naira at the age of twenty-one summers, and Dimitri was designated as her Left Hand. Though their paths occasionally part through the will of the Goddess, they will always reunite. They will always rejoin, for they are two sides of the same coin: stronger--and more balanced--together than they are apart.

Failures & Embarrassments
Naira has few regrets in her life, but one of the most prominent (though it isn't completely a regret) is Dimitri's exposure to the darker parts of the world, where his already-present cynicism only got worse as he was expected to work with unsavory types and the cutthroats of the underworld; where he wasn't allowed to trust anyone.

Personality Characteristics
Savvies & Ineptitudes
Savvies:
She believes in the sanctity of teamwork, and understands the importance each person has in making the group work as a whole. She is mindful of this when giving commands, and also respects views that differ from her own, often mediating conflict between members of the group.
Her role in combat is that of a defensive protectorate. She can, of course, go offensive, and she hits damn hard, but the majority of the time she uses her shield and her ability to shake off hits to stand between those than can’t take them as easily.
With her tattoo of A’letid’s mark worn on her forehead, her hulking armor and her emblazoned shield, it’s not hard for her to draw people’s attention and keep them focused on her.
She's a very good dancer; having been taught from a young age all the noble "socialite" required dances.
She also has a nice voice when it comes to singing; her chants (even those not imbued with magic) can either instantly put you to sleep or invigorate you.
Ineptitudes:
Is inexperienced and clueless when it comes to romance/flirting
