Prior Confessio

Prior Confessio is a human priest and the head of Odelion Priory in Roselawn. He is secretly behind the plot to assassinate Queen Harriet by manipulating the terrorist group New Dawn.
A stern and imposing man, Confessio has been serving as the head of the Odelion Priory for ten years. Before that, he trained at the High Seminary in Stensgier where he became enamored with the theocratic hold the Einarian Pontificate held over the state. Roselawn, by contrast, was a highly debauched and secular town to his eyes, and so he set out to to expand the church's power in the town and in the wider Hildonia. Over time, he formed a secret cabal of church leaders dedicated to widening the church's authority and undermining that of the state. To that end, they began manipulating the terrorist group New Dawn, a group with the ostensible intent of fighting for Imperial reunification; in this way the cabal could not only keep their hands clean but also discredit the cause of reunification, thus preserving the power vacuum that the church was currently thriving in.
On the Feast of Saint Paloren in 1855, the Odelion Priory was overrun by snakes, and Confessio and other clerics sought help from Margrave Anton Thornsby. Precision Merchantel and Lethe Argie happened to overhear the conversation while attending the festival, and offered to help clear out the snakes. They found that the cause of the infestation was a man named Wardis Wickson, a cleric of the god of trickery Tirved, who was playing a practical joke on the priory. Wickson managed to escape, and in the aftermath Confessio attempted to blame the two adventurers for the situation and threatened to arrest them. He was blackmailed into letting them go by Lethe, who had discovered Confessio's stash of lewd literature.
The party would later run into Confessio when they discovered he was behind the plot to assassinate Queen Harriet. Confessio convinced the party to work with him to assassinate Margrave Thornsby, but later double-crossed them and called for their arrest. The party managed to evade capture and informed Percival Fould of Confessio's crimes before fleeing to the Grand Principality of Klenhelm. It is yet to be revealed what became of Confessio's fate.
