Who Let The Dogs Out?

General Summary

The battle with the spider-like creature launching a large web over the entire party, although everyone was able to prevent themselves from becoming entangled. As Lethe misty-stepped away to avoid combat with the creature, several of its spawn began emerging out of the walls of the cavern. Eventually Lethe got the killing blow on the creature, burning a hole through its abdomen. While investigating the cavern, the party discovered the corpse of a halfling, bearing a shortsword of light and a glowing vial. Pressing onwards, the party discovered that the cavern led to a back entrance into the cult lair, and spotted a man shoveling dog's bodies into a furnace. After interrogating him, they learned that he was a former prisoner who had been forced into service for the cult; the alternative being turned into an "unnatural creature." While Erevan and Precision interrogated him, Lethe discovered a room in which several dogs had clearly been being held, and inside it found Deacon, the beagle who Precision and Erevan had searched the city for. While clearly terrified, the dog was otherwise unharmed. Leaving Deacon there for now, the party persuaded the worker to join them in their assault and kicked down the door into the main ritual area.
Inside, they saw five cultists surrounding a raised altar. The body of a man they recognized as Ricgard, the former leader of New Dawn, lay across a blood-filled font as Anton Thornsby led the ritual. Turning to address the party, Thornsby completed the ritual and the body began transforming into an unnatural canine hybrid before reanimating. At a signal from Thornsby, several more of these reanimated hybrids emerged from a side room as the Margrave himself began to transform into a larger, more lupine form. The battle raged and eventually the Margrave was slain by Lethe, and as he fell the reanimated creatures seemed to fall into a stunned daze, as if waking up from a dream.
After dispatching the remaining cultists, the party cautiously approached the one remaining hybrid. After a few moments he slowly began to stir and regain consciousness. Looking up, he asked the party what was going on, and who he was.
