Lorsath (LOR-sath)
A versatile intelligent race who can effortlessly switch between terrestrial and aquatic environments, the community-oriented Lorsath are one of the more uncommon peoples originating from the Middle Realm.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Lorsath are bipedal and possess both gills and lungs so they can breathe air and water. They don't have scales; instead, their bodies are covered with tough skin like that of a catfish. A flexible finned tail and long, webbed fingers and toes allow them to swim at surprising speeds under the water. Their skin becomes tight and uncomfortable when kept dry for too long, meaning that those who choose a life on land must regularly submerge themselves in water.
Genetics and Reproduction
After internal fertilization, the Lorsath lay single soft-shelled eggs that must be cared for and guarded for around 160 days before they hatch.
Growth Rate & Stages
When they emerge from their eggs, young Lorsath are extremely small and entirely helpless. They must be cared for constantly during their first few years of life, after which they slowly begin to grow more and more independent until they reach puberty at around 15 years old. Up until this point, they do not have a gender and are completely androgynous. They choose the gender they will grow into over the next few years. They reach complete maturity at around 25 years of age.
Ecology and Habitats
The Lorsath usually live offshore in relatively shallow water, midway between land and the deeper parts of the body of water they reside within. They have a tendency to build sturdy stone keeps with spires that rise above the waves in places, enabling them to store objects that fare better when dry and to keep an eye on their above-water surroundings.
Dietary Needs and Habits
The Lorsath are omnivorous. They primarily consume fish, but they also farm plants and hunt other animals, both underwater and on land.

This race is highly community-driven. They form close bonds with the other individuals in their towns, as well as those who live nearby.
