Salt Deserts
A vast expanse of blinding light and heat intolerable to all except those creatures native to the Lower Realm. Water is scarce, except on the rare and seemingly random occasions on which showers of rain fall from the sky. Constant wind ravages the landscape, gathering the salty dust into the air and coating everything in stinging grime, but even this rarely blocks out the ever-present light from the pure white sky.
Geography
The salt flats are mostly-flat expanses of salty, scorched earth. A few wind-worn mountains and canyons are present, along with dunes of gathered sand and salt. Like other features within the Lower Realm, these are subject to constant change.
Ecosystem Cycles
During wind storms, each and every creature knows to take shelter and protect their eyes, noses, and mouths (if applicable) as best they can. The salt that gets whipped up by the frenzied gusts is highly corrosive and can easily damage sensitive parts of the body.
After the random rainstorms that drench the landscape, the plants tend to bloom all at once, making the usually-hideous salt plains colorful and even vibrant.
Fauna & Flora
This is among the most barren of environments to be found in the Lower Realm. The few creatures that make their home here include snakes, lizards, scorpions, and the occasional herd of camel-like creatures. Scrubby plants litter the landscape, but these are usually covered in sharp thorns.
