Qahir
One of the centermost regions of Al'Taj, it is a semi-arid region known for containing both the Coastal City of Kestor's Past and the historical Canyons of Qahir. The city was founded several hundred years ago by a man known as Kestor, who to this day lives on through a crown containing his and every monarch’s memories and personality. The influence of Kestor and the Delver’s Guild has made this region relatively safer, although not without danger.
The Canyons of Qahir are where much of that danger is found- a snaking labyrinth of mountains and plateaus that were once crossed by an extensive river system. Powerful creatures, bandits, and ancient sites all lie within the Canyons, their danger only exacerbated by the effort it takes to even cross them.
Geography
The Canyons of Qahir, located approximately a week's journey from Kestor's Past, sprawl across a massive plateau, separating southern Al'Taj from the rest of the continent by land. These canyons, once carved by a flowing river, now stand as a testament to the passage of time. A singular paved passage connects Kestor's Past to the nearby city of Aecho, offering a vital route through this rugged terrain. Despite the challenges, the canyons harbor a unique ecosystem, attracting both solace-seekers and researchers fascinated by the archaeological sites scattered throughout.
Localized Phenomena
Within the Canyons of Qahir, adventurers may encounter localized phenomena shaped by the untamed nature of this region. Sandstorms, born from the rocky sands and unique topography, occasionally sweep through the canyons, adding an unpredictable element to the landscape. These swirling tempests can obscure visibility and present challenges to those navigating the complex terrain. Whether seeking solitude or uncovering archaeological treasures, explorers in Qahir must contend with the ever-changing moods of the land.
Climate
Qahir experiences a semiarid climate, maintaining consistent warmth throughout the year with occasional light rain in the colder months. The rugged terrain and expansive canyons contribute to the region's unique microclimate, where temperatures can vary within different pockets of the landscape. Despite the challenges, Kestor's Past, situated at the tip of a large bay, thrives under the eternal monarchy of Kestor, welcoming immigrants, merchants, and adventurers from across Tehiri.
