Fortuna City

Fortuna City is the capital city of the Auvian Empire, lifted out of the waters of Fortuna Bay. It is both the hereditary seat of House Fortuna and the traditional seat of the Emperor of Auvia. It is currently overseen by the Auvian Council of Stewards, who rule in the stead of the young Emperor Theo III, until he comes of age.

History:

When the Goblin Khannate shattered the Helleynan Empire during the War of the Khan, they next prepared to cross the Sea of Stars and invade the High Elf nation of Old Aethra via naval assault. They began assembling their fleet in Fortuna Bay, but were attacked preemptively by a coalition force of Helleynan resistance fighters, Feywood outriders, and the full might of the Aethran military. These forces turned the tide against the Khannate, eventually leading to Auvia's independence.
The Aethrans swore to uplift Auvia as a protectorate of their great nation, and as a gift used the powers of deep elven magic and peerless minotaur engineering to construct Fortuna City, an entirely waterbound city, unique in it's size and grandeur. This was given to the stewardship of Isabelle Fortuna, whom had been the local lord leading the resistance against the goblin invaders. With the loss of the previous Helleynan Emperor, the Phoenix King himself chose to pass over more direct Helleynan heirs to personally name Isabelle Fortuna as Empress Isabelle I, the first Emperor of Auvia, thereby founding the Auvian Empire.

Locations of Note:

  • The Imperial Palace - Home of the royal family, and highest seat of governance in Auvia. The Auvian Council of Stewards, who rule in the stead of the young Emperor Theo III, preside over the land from these esteemed chambers.
  • The Imperial Collegiate Archives - The headquarters of the Imperial College. While the vast majority of the college's military training is completed in Sableshire, the archives are the home of the college's scholars and mages. It is one of the world's most extensive repositories of knowledge.
  • The Royal Bestiary - Serves as both a living space for the royal griffons as well as a barracks for the Griffon Knights, the Empire's most prestigious knightly order.
  • The Runestone of Gafmohr - A great carved granite runestone, carved in the ancient Runic tongue of the Giants. Left by the Rune-Priest Gafmohr, when he along with a band of his Giant followers, held the city in a two day siege in protest of the first Imperial Moot's exclusion of his god, Vulrundir. It remains as a monument to the Auvia's equal inclusion of all Thirteen Deities in it's choosing of Emperors.
