Ivathar Veness
Ivathar Veness is the father of Sarenoth, Maliss and Lassek Veness, and is the Lord Commander of the grand Army of Rieyama. A powerful but reserved man, Ivathar is ruthless and efficient with matters of conflict and strategy, but veers far from his Wife's domain of politics. As the youngest graduate of the armed forces and the record holder for the most victories as a general before being promoted to captain aged 26, Ivathar caught the eye of Priestess Sethari Veness, and the pair swiftly fell in love, producing three children.
He was a gentle and good father, encouraging them to explore and push boundaries - at their mothers disapproval. He effortlessly raised Maliss and Sarenoth by taking them beyond the city walls, raising them to be adventurous and intelligent children. He secretly admired Maliss' rebellious attitude, which got him in trouble with his wife for inadvertently - at least he swore it was - encouraging her truant behaviour. He struggled to connect to Lassek as much, and was somewhat regretful he could give him the same upbringing as his other two children, but as unalike they were, his thoughtful and strategic mind passed on to Lassek the strongest.
In the military, Ivathar commands the first battalion in the Grand Army of Rieyama, and closely advises the captains below him on strategic manoeuvres. He maintains a close but rivalrous relationship with the secret services, and while he prefers the physical combat to undercover operations, he admires and appreciates there work and was proud of Maliss for rising the ranks of the institution.
