Donevan Corsair

The Veteran

Donevan Corsair was born in 45 BXR in the scanty mining town of Tahn'ard Glen, near the bottom of the Alta-Nova Coast, to parents Dal and Yvonne. His father was a constant tavern-dweller, abusive to his wife and Donevan; his fiery temper resulting in the family constantly moving from place to place. They eventually ended up staying in the small elven town of As'cadel for a number of years until around 33 BXR. Following an argument regarding Donevan's future, Dal killed his wife in a sudden fit of rage, causing Donevan to flee into the wilderness.   He was soon discovered by a Calanthican Priest, Eritriov Reverencia, who taught him to control his power and worship the Estrialist God of War, Ax. He excelled at Reverencia's temple and soon became a prolific swordsman, high in the ranks of the Order. However, one fateful night in 11 BXR, the temple was burned and pillaged by a gang of raiders, leaving Donevan's new home in ruins, his fellow brethren all dead and his master gone, presumably killed.   Truly lost, he began to wander Calanthe in search of who he was meant to be, resulting in him going on a pilgrimage to get closer to Ax and taking up his duty as a sword for hire. On the road he met Faea Medan, an Eladrin Druid from the faraway land of Alcyrne. He aided her in battle and the two quickly became friends, resulting in Donevan becoming the fourth member of an adventuring party known as the Knights of the Four Corners, alongside Faea, Dwarven Barbarian Orlo Thoronovich and Human Ranger Ludvik Levaraine. They travelled the world far and wide, slaying monsters and defending kings, eventually yielding them worldwide fame and cementing their names in the verses of skalds.    By the time of the Wars of Xandria, Donevan Corsair was a household name, so it came as no surprise when war came around that he would lead the frontlines into battle against the Underbloods. The Knights of the Four Corners strategically helped to push the war in their favour throughout its seven year course, though not without the help of Donevan's sword - nicknamed "Astra" (a shortened version of Astral Key). However, in 5 LY, during a stand defending the northern town of Rothenburgh, the Knights of the Four Corners became cornered against the cliff of a mountain with Underblood forces closing in. In the heat of the moment, Donevan sacrificed his life to allow the rest of his party to escape and win the war, being thrown off of the cliff by Lord Xandria himself, awaiting the embrace of an icy crevasse.   There he lay for over 500 years, until for some unknown reason, he woke up in the early months of 529 AXR, completely oblivious to his past life. Left a walking corpse, he travelled Σu'ryxia to find anyone that could shine light on who he used to be, eventually becoming the fifth member of the Masters of the Nine Elements.
