Dead
Mainly characterized as those human inhabitants of the village who are without a pulse, the Dead have been displaced from life.
The Dead come to Avalon because they are weighed down with unresolved emotional issues carried over from life. They need time to process these issues, to 'do the work and dig for the truth' before they move on.
Culture
Shared customary codes and values
The Dead enjoy quiet and stillness. They are the people sitting on the porch, rocking slowly, staring off across the village to the trees, picking the shadows apart with their gaze. Or sitting in the park, letting the birds eat straight from their hands. They mingle with the Living the way that small-town neighbors do, if the town has two grocery stores. In a two-grocery town, everyone knows if you shop at Market or Grocer, and in Avalon, everyone knows immediately if you're Living or Dead.
Additionally, they don't worry much about time. When the Living want to make plans with the Dead, it's best to aim for a specific time of daylight, rather than an hour; times like sunset, noon, dusk, moon-rise, full dark are what matter to the Dead.
Common Etiquette rules
The Dead do not enjoy talking about the circumstances of their death, and so it's considered impolite to ask. While the Dead do not need to eat, they will habitually do so and make excellent dinner guests.
Common Customs, traditions and rituals
The History Tower of the Avalon Village Public Library is a popular hangout for the Dead who wish a break from the Living. There, they will congregate among the stories near their lives, and reminisce about the differences between the books and their memories. Even in death, nostalgia is a powerful calling.
