Pallid Elf

Denizens of the Darkgrove

Pallid elves are a curious race of mystical and insightful people with skin as pale as the surface of the moon. Many hold a childlike curiosity and a much stronger wanderlust than other elven subraces. They themselves are usually met with wonderment and cordial inquisitiveness from other races when wandering outside of their hidden homes in the Darkgrove.   The ancestors of the pallid elves were a group of reclusive wood elves who worshiped the Moonweaver and lived in a dense woodland protected by illusion magic by their moon priests. During the Calamity, minions of the Crawling King burrowed beneath their home and rose to the surface, commencing a full-scale attack on the surface. The forest of these elves , which was so dense that the presence of the sun was almost negligible, proved to be a favorable home base for these photophobic under-dwellers and would become known as the Darkgrove.   During the Crawling King's attack, many of the elven denizens were dragged underground and tortured, but some survived among the sunken roots of the Darkgrove under the protection of the Moonweaver. Forming clans, the survivors lived in fear of the Crawling King and hid underground from the destruction of the Calamity. Over time, the Moonweaver's blessings mingled with the elves' natural adaption to the Darkgrove, eventually forming a new subrace of elves known as the Pallid Elves. The pallid elves would not find it safe to return to the surface until well after the Divergence, and only within the last century have they ventured outside of the Darkgrove, confused and curious about the world that has developed without them.
