CAPFS Round

(Close Activation Phasing Flechette Scattershot)

Mechanics & Inner Workings

These rounds work the same way as the CAPS Round, but the excepting of the solid metal sabot penetrating being replaced with a collection of carefully arrayed flechettes. These spread out immediately after they cease to be contained by the casing of their shell, spraying into the enemy vehicle and hopefully causing far more damage. Unfortunately, the penetration value of these rounds is greatly reduced do to the phasing of many more small objects being required, yielding only around 400mm of penetration.

History

These rounds were invented in the hopes of causing more after penetration damage, as the single penetrating sabot core of the CAPS Round proved to be less than satisfactory, often requiring several shots to destroy a target.

Rarity
Most Saurian tanks will carry at least a few CAPFS rounds, but due to their superior penetration capabilities the standard CAPS Rounds are still more common.
