Kitsune
Yaren sighed as he heard a familiar giggling behind him, turning on his heel while pinching the bridge of his nose. "Could you please stop doing that?" He asked. A fox came out the nearby shrubbery before transforming into an anthropomorphic fox, having a giant grin on his face. "Oh come on, Yaren, you got to admit that was pretty fun." "You stole jewelry from someone's wife and slipped it in my pouch, forcing me into a confrontation with their husband. Not to mention I got run out of town, how was that remotely fun?" "Well, it was fun for me." The fox stuck his tongue out at him, making Yaren roll his eyes. "Besides, look what I found because of that." He pulled out a letter and handed it to the Aasimar. He read it over and his eyes widened as he got to the end. "This was from--" "That same nobleman you got in a fistfight with. Turns out he's not as good as he seems." "Okay, Hakuzo, I'll let you off with a warning this time. Let's go find that noble." Yaren walked past him, heading back towards town. "You gonna stop questioning whether I'm a good person or not?" "Not on your life, kitsune."
Basic Information
Anatomy
Kitsune have three forms they can switch between: One is a humanoid form that looks like whatever species they wish to blend in as. The most common form for them is an anthropomorphic fox people with anywhere from one to nine tails, depending on their strength. The third form is a tiny fox with a number of tails equal to the one in their true form.
Growth Rate & Stages
Until Kitsune reach adulthood at age 100, they never have more than one tail. After that, they begin gaining more tails depending on their age and their power. When they reach the pinnacle of power or their 700th year, Kitsune gain their ninth and final tail. Usually, this is marked by a change in fur color as well but some Kitsune have learned to suppress that feature of their ascension.

Civilization and Culture
History
While the realms of good spawned such radiant peoples such as the Celestials and influenced the creation of the Aasimar, they also spawned a race of tricksters both good, neutral, and malicious alike: The Kitsune. At first, they were meant to be messengers for the Celestials when they couldn't call upon their own. As such, they followed them anywhere, especially during their exploration of the Astra. Already born from the heavenly plane of Chaos, they were draw to Nistra, particularly the chaotic side.
While at first they were tricksters in light-hearted fun and to help the side of good, Nistra converted some of them into chaos for their own fun and to cause pandemonium. And the Kitsune who got too close to Daestra were turned to fun for evil's sake. These three factions of the kitsune feuded with each other and there is a theory that their conversion is what sparked the first phase of the Blood War. If they did, it was that same difference that ended it for the side of Good.
The Kitsune across all sides were the ones who came up with the terms of the curse that would turn evil against itself. Evil aligned kitsune just wanted to see the two worlds burn in constant war rather than see evil triumph over good. And the Celestials, on their last legs, agreed to do this. The Kitsune, to protect themselves, added in a permanent addendum that turned them all mortal. But in exchange for mortality, it allowed them to escape to the world of Avestra where the Celestials and other forces couldn't touch them.
Even as the Elders came thousands of years later, they weren't worried about the forces they spurned, having plenty of experience from their ancestors to help them evade any repercussions. Currently, the Kitsune seem to have a feud with the Fey, trying to see which side can be the greatest trickster in the cosmic region.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Good aligned Kitsune are often seen as helpers to Celestials or Aasimar aligned with cosmic good. Some people have seen them as traveling partners of Aasimar and even neutral and evil aligned ones are not afraid to spend time with the fallen variants.
The rigidness of the Lunari often bores a kitsune which is often why they seek out Elves and Alomri, both of which are well attuned to chaotic lifestyles. They even see them both as the key to get a legup on the Fey, especially with the growing number of Alomri that wish to free their leader from Faenum.
