Aberrations
Aberrations may truly be a natural group of species that exist amongst worlds in deep space. However, Avestra and the rest of the universe only know them as the monstrous soldiers of the X'ith'ila. Creatures such as Aboleths, Beholders, and the mighty Illithids ravaged countless worlds in their fight to destroy all of creation. And as such, this marks them as an enemy of all living beings, even each other. Many Aberrations display a psionic talent that can even counter normal magic, not relying on leylines or other forms of magic but merely their own willpower. Yet even as they dominate the minds of others, they are dominated themselves.
Resting in hive worlds and secret locations on enemy realms, the Aberrations wait for the call from their masters to once again lead the charge against the disgusting guardians of reality. Yet as they wait, they have learned to become independent themselves, being tempted by the free will they gain from being apart from the X'ith'ila. When the call comes again, It remains to be seen if the Aberrations will be willing to give up the freedom they've enjoyed for millenniums.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Aboleths are monstrous fish creatures that live in the ocean. They usually have three eyes in vertical order above a large gaping maw of teeth. Add in a number of tentacle fins stretching out the back and you have a picture of what this monster is like. A Large creature, they can swim deceptively fast through any type of water.
Beholders make up the next section of Aberrations. Large eyeballs with smaller eyeballs sitting at the ends of tentacles that flow out of them. And one mouth beneath that central eyeball in grotesque faction. Most beholders are large creatures with only variants of a specific type starting out small.
Illithids, or Mindflayers, are the most numerous and make up the majority of ground troopers for the X'ith'ila. They look like humanoid creatures with an octopus for a head. A variant of this creature exists as an Elder Brian which connects hive minds of Mindflayers and transmit orders from the X'ith'ila if needed.
Neogi are more footsoldiers for the X'ith'ila. Enslavers just like the Mindflayers, they usually appear as smaller worm-like creatures. They either hide on the backs of their minions known as Umberhulks or hide within their hives.
Star Spawn are the heralds of Aberrant reckoning. Starting as larva that form into people, these creatures can turn into hulking monsters or skinny and splinely monsters. They are most likely an attempt to reflect the unknowable nature of the Aberrants that tries to mimic reality... or that's what those of reality believe.
Besides them are countless other aberrations that either serve the X'ith'ila or become independent.

Civilization and Culture
History
The Aberrations existed on worlds far in deep space supposedly. Or maybe they never existed until the X'ith'ila began spreading. All that is known comes from the stories of the Gith and the information people of the other planes learned after the invasion. The Gith claim that the Aberrations were constant threats to their homeworld that they had to beat back time after time.
Regardless, the countless Aberrations destroyed the Gith homeworld under the command of the X'ith'ila. And after making a sufficient hive world, went across the Astra, consuming world after world. When they reached the Avestra section, they thought that it would be sufficient for them to finally end reality under the command of the Elders. However, the coming of the Eternals changed that and many found their link to the X'ith'ila destroyed. Now they are scattered across realms with, either waiting for their masters' command or following their own will. Across the realm, they are questioning the reason for their existence beyond destroying reality. And begin to wonder if the Elders are as much an enemy to them as they are to the rest of reality.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
The Gith and the Aberrations share the most animosity as they absolutely despise each other due to the past conflicts they've had. They are one of the few species to escape complete annihilation and quite a few generals would love to go after them and finally wipe them out for good. And the Gith would love nothing more than to exterminate every Aberration they can find.
The Kalashtar are interesting to the Aberrations as they seem to share the same psionic capabilities in a biological manner to the Aberrations. They know they were test subjects of their kind and the X'ith'ila and want to force them into their collective to see if a major change will occur when the two species meet.
