The Republic of Strouland
Strouland is an egalitarian nation on the continent of Abai bordering Lici. Strouland's holdings in Ilvortia consist of most of the islands in the Withered Chain, which separates the Empty Ocean from the Mirrored Abyss and is a major route around Ilvortia.
The Stroulanders primary concern on the continent is trade and exploration. Although they still seize land, they usually are on friendly terms with the indigenous peoples and prefer to trade with them for goods and knowledge rather than to subjugate or exterminate.
Because of their hold on the Withered Chain and has a strategic position on the trade in the area, the Republic often comes into conflict with the Companions of the Sea, who want a monopoly on trade in the area and often trade in industries that the Stroulanders believe to be immoral and cruel.
