Mettenheim City

Current Month: Julwar 2nd: 209, The Fifth Age
Mettenheim City was, for most of the Mettenheim Peninsula's history, the only city on this once volcanic land, all other settlements being little more than villages barely scraping out crops from the soil.   Positioned on the slopes of an active volcano, it was so settled due to it being the only location at the time to mine Mettenese Steel. Because of the events of the Second Fall and the reshaping of the climate and minerology of the Peninsula, it has been left abandoned.   Geography   The city was diamond shaped, the narrow portion of the diamond starting at the volcano summit and expanding outward the farther down the slopes one went. The active lava flows acted like canals that funneled along the city streets, were the citizens would dump their refuse and chamber pots. All the buildings were constructed from black stone, which would then be covered in a thick layer of soot from the volcano and mines.   The city was surrounded by a stout but thick wall defended by crossbowmen and ballistas.   Districts   Schweitzen District - The cities market   Zweilarch District - Where the commoners resided   Heimldritch District - Where the military barracked   Mettenehiem Mountain District - The mine, which was the lifeblood of the city, was located here.   Alaric Von Bruhaha District - A district named after the Mettenese hero, Alaric von Bruahaha who fought for independence from the Riek, it acted as the crafting district.   Reik Rememberance District - Reikish loyalists resided here during the revolution, though it wasn't called so at the time. The decision to rename the district was made to amend hurt relations with the loyalists, and they weren't driven from the city once the war was won. it was considered the wealthy district due to its residents.   Victar Don Gorich District - the religious quarter of the city.
