Scranc

Scranc are violent, inhuman creatures first created by the Tremalking Empire as instruments of war once their Minotaur slaves rebelled. Capable of language, they speak one of the many pidgin languages collectively referred to as Goblinoid (“Cut Tongue” in Common).
According to the Pre Second Fall Histories, the Scranc are one of the “Weapons Races” created by the Tremalking Empire to prosecute their wars of conquest across the continent, though they were a relatively late creation in the Empires existence.
The motivations of the Scranc seem to be as base as imaginable. They seem to know nothing of mercy or honour, and though they do take prisoners, very few are known to have survived captivity, which is said to be savage beyond imagining.
Physiology
They reproduce rapidly. Though no outward physical differences are readily visible, female Scranc seem to have roles identical to those of male Scranc.
Apparently, a great number of Scranc in various stages of pregnancy were observed in battle over the course of their use during the reign of the Tremalking Empire. Though generally inferior to Men in individual combat, they are ideal logistically, as they are able to live for sustained periods on little more than grubs and insects.
Survivors recount tales of vast tracts of ground overturned and rooted by passing Scranc hordes. Under the command of a higher intelligence they are utterly fearless, and seem to strike with unerring control and coordination.
Appearance
Typically, Sranc stand no higher than the average humans shoulder. Their skin is devoid of pigment, and despite the refined—to the point of repulsiveness—beauty of their faces, their physiognomy is bestial (though hairless), with pinched shoulders and near translucent skin.
They are exceedingly fast across both open and broken terrain, and their sheer viciousness is said to compensate for their slight stature.
Threat
Mandate scholars are prone to make dire warnings about the present numbers of Scranc in Tremalking. Apparently the Second Apocalypse had reduced the Scranc, pressing them to the margins of Azure. Now Sranc dominate half the continent.
Related Species
Urscranc are a subspecies of Scranc that have been bred for obedience and intelligence.
