Coven of the Waning Moon

The Coven of the Waning Moon is a coven of powerful witches in Beycillis. They are not under the jurisdiction of any country. Witches of the coven can be encountered almost anywhere, in solitary forest huts or at a monarch's side, aiding them with their secret knowledge and magical powers.

Their magic is closely tied to Galachna and therefore strongest during the New Moon. It combines arcane, divine and primal magic.

Due to their secretive and often power-focused behaviours, many rumours and superstitions regarding witches exist. Rural communities, especially those who came under the influence of an evil witch in the past, may still wear protective charms to ward against witches and every now and then witchhunters take up torches or arms - though it is a dangerous profession that few people grow old in.

Structure

The Coven is led by three powerful witches, each of them representing one aspect of their goddess: The maiden, the mother and the crone. When a crone dies, a new maiden is chosen. A maiden or mother dying before they become the crone is seen as a terrible omen, a sign of Galachna's displeasure with the entire coven.
