Has a Mayor

Defences

There's a wall in place, which protects most of its citzens at all times. Those who live, work, or visit the districts outside the walls are brought inside if there's a need to.

Districts

Trade Town: This is the oldest district in the city. It's the hub of the city as well. There are many businesses here as well as where the Mayor's offices are. Many of the streets here are still maintained as they were when the city was founded. There are several parks in the districts that provide shade and beauty for the residents of the city. The biggest one is the original oasis that the founders of the city first settled by.   The Port: Right on the sea, this district is the gate way to the water and to lands that are otherwise inaccessible by land travel. Boats also go out for fishing. This district houses warehouses for trade goods from other countries as well as a couple of fish canneries.   Beerpark: This is one of the smallest districts of the city and one of the three that are outside its walls. Not far from here are farms that grow the required plants for making alcoholic drinks so that the breweries here can make the drinks. Twice a year, they hold something similar to Oktoberfest. If one isn't careful during these events, one may find themselves married, or relieved of their wealth. A few have (to their embarassment) gone home naked.   Southgate: This district is mainly upperclass homes but it is also the gate into the majority of Asqah Caliphate, which eventually leads to the other countries on this continent. In recent years, those who live in this district have petitioned the Mayor to close the gate and reroute all incoming and outgoing traffic to other gates. So far, nothing has changed.   Summer Gate: This is the gate that leads out into the Sayahafat Hills. It is heavily used by those going to or coming from the capital Ramayrif. It is also used by expedition teams, such as the Frontier Pathfinders who go in search of the Sayahafat Beast because they've heard the Legend of the Sayahafat Beast and are curious. The district around this gate is a mix of inns, shops and homes.   The Crests: This is one of the three districts that is outside the walls of city. It is mainly where the poor live and is overlooked by many because they don't want to acknowledge that they have the problem.   Cattlereach: This district is one of three outside the walls of city. It was named during one of the alcohol festivals. It was a joke that caught on and stuck. It's a way of reminding people that there is more to life than just the hot, arid region that they live in. This district houses blacksmiths and the likes.

History

This city was founded by a nomad group. They came through the Sayahafat Hills. The wife of one of the founders was saved by the Sayahafat Beast. Because of this the founders agreed to settle next to an oasis near the Sayahafat Hills. The deal was that they would stand guard to protect the beast as repayment.   Very few have seen the Sayahafat Beast since then and usually the few that do are never seen from again. While a big portion of the city's income comes from travellers and expeditions, what is sold to "help" actually helps keep the Sayahafat Beast safe from prying eyes.   It's only the Thalara and the extremely well-informed (usually thieves and rogues) who the citizens of this city have a hard time tricking.
