Domum pro Pueris et Infantibus (Home for Lost Children and Babies) is an orphanage commissioned by Mother Mariam, the Head Nun of The Central Church, to serve as a home for the souls of deceased human babies and children who angels can adopt.

The orphanage has several locations in many cities and settlements in Caelumen.

Purpose / Function

The orphanage was built to house the souls of deceased human infants and children, more specifically, those whose family members aren't present in Caelumen, care for them and give them a chance to be adopted by a loving angel family.
All these children, alone without their parents; poor things...

Alterations

As more infant souls entered Caelumen, the orphanage was expanded to make more room for them. The largest expansion occurred in the 1950s when Caelumen saw the largest influx of infant souls.

Architecture

The three-story building resembles a church with tall spires, brick and cut stone walls, stained glass, balconies lined with silver and iron railings and wide porches filled with potted plants. The entrance is a double set of doors with stained glass windows in them and is surrounded by a stone brick arch.

History

Domum pro Pueris et Infantibus was commissioned to be built as there were too many infant souls and not enough Soul Guardians to care for them. As more infant souls came to Caelumen, more orphanages were built in various locations. There are currently ten of these orphanages.
