Deepglen

The Merchant's Lake

Deepglen is the sister town of Dymchurch and serves as the secondary merchant town of Rainegate. Situated by Lake Dymia it holds most of the river's ferries when they're not in use and runs down through the mountains into Dymchurch. Many inns and taverns were built to accommodate the high amount of merchants that made this town their home, Temporary lodging is popular as most of the population are constantly on the move and keep their belongings inside their ferries.

Etymology

Deepglen was named after the wide valley leading into a deep lake that the town was well known for, It's dark waters were perfectly suitable for many more ferries to be docked at one time even after the introduction of river permits.

Security

Deepglen has been known to harbour many criminals most of which are thieves looking to take from the wealthy merchants while their ferries are left unattended in the docks - As such The Crown has garrisoned many more troops here than usual coming from the now defunct bastion turned barracks of Northgate. It's reputation as a merchant lodging still attracts criminals and ne'er do wells though the prescence of Justice Acolytes keeps them to a much lower population.
