Bahamut

God of Truth, Wisdom, Justice, and Pride. Progenitor of Dragonkind.

Platinum Grandfather

Bahamut is the god of Truth, Justice, Wisdom, Leadership, Protection, Honor, and Good Dragons. His most well known aspect is that of an enormous platinum dragon with scales that shine with iridescent light regardless of the light around him. He is both twin brother and rival of the Dark Empress, Tiamat.

Realm

Bahamut's realm exists as a shining fortress floating about the mountain of Caelestis in Paradise where paladins and clerics often take pilgrimages to receive boons and where he holds court among fellow gods and his own personal draconic followers.

Tenets of Faith

The teachings of the faith of Bahamut uphold ideals of wisdom and justice, vigilance against evil and opposition to oppression.
  • Know the weight of your sword. Temper your justice with wisdom.
  • Be stern and unyielding in the face of evil and stand alert against corruption.
  • Oppose injustice and tyranny while protecting the weak and oppressed.
  • Seek truth and wisdom.

Worshipers

Worshipers of Bahamut are often paladins, idealistic knights, kings and lords, advisors, and the downtrodden. Several knightly orders have been made in the name of Bahamut to combat evil and injustice, and goodly kings and queens often hold him in high regard as a councilor to a successfully good reign. They are often seen as beacons of hope, courage, and righteousness.

Clergy

The clergy of Bahamut is composed of paladins and clerics of good alignment, as he abhorred evil. Several goodly dragons also worshiped him and many kept small shrines to him in their lairs whether they were devout or not. Clergy wore garb in blue and white, the highest priests sometimes adorned themselves with platinum and sapphire holy symbols. It is also common in some to find followers travelling with a collection of small birds (usually seven yellow canaries), an allusion to one of the forms Bahamut would take when travelling the world in the form of a mortal in the time before the gods left the Prime Material.
The Knights in Silver
The Knights in Silver is an old order of knights fabled to have been started by a number of silver dragons several hundred years ago before the Dragonrage and the following disappearance of dragons from common society. Their organization has risen and fallen through the ages and currently stand as a small order of itinerant Bahamut worshiping knights and priests who travel Harental and Tol'Galen putting down threats to those who cannot defend themselves.
Dragon Knights of Bahamut
The Dragon Knights, or Ux-Bahamuti, were a draconic humanoid force granted power by Bahamut during the Dragonsong War in order to combat the threat Tiamat and her draconians posed. It is rumored that these elite warriors would undergo a ritual known as the Rite of Rebirth that granted them a draconic form with the power of Bahamut. They disappeared hundreds of years ago after the Dragonrage led to the hunting of their kind along with the remaining dragons. Granted Powers Divine petitioners of Bahamut are known to employ protective magics to guard their allies from harm. Some have even been rumored to have uncovered draconic magic in the form of ancient spells and words of power.

Temples and Shrines

Temples to Bahamut are usually modest yet elegant places of worship with limited embellishments since Bahamut doesn't appreciate being honored by objects, recognizing deeds done over treasures. As such, the temples of Bahamut often served as places of council and as marshaling points for knights in his service.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Bahamut wishes to see a world where the just rule with wisdom and tyranny is non-existent. Where truth prevails over deceit and all are seen as equal in the eyes of the world. A world in which evil has been vanquished and all are protected from it's corruption.

Physical Description

Identifying Characteristics

When he manifests in physical form, it is often as his platinum dragon form, but he has been known to take the form of humanoids in the form of elderly paladins or itinerant scholars and priests.
Bahamut manifests his power in the form of sapphire eyes, golden scales, and chilling winds.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Bahamut is stern and disapproving of evil while remaining unconditionally compassionate toward the downtrodden. He was one of the more active gods during the time when they walked the Prime. Compared to his twin sister, Tiamat, he is both modest and temperate, desiring little in the way of material treasures, a quality that is strange even among the metallic dragons he had a hand in creating. Instead, he values wisdom, knowledge, stories and song. It is for this reason, perhaps, that there are so many stories of the Grandfather Dragon taking the form of a mortal and walking among them in guise, using his vast wealth to help those in need, a quality that pairs well with one of his most trusted allies, Segren.
Though his lack of avarice may set him apart from most dragons, his pride and zeal did occasionally get the better of him.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Bahamut is on friendly terms with most goodly powers calling Segren, Örd, Envau, and Vestus his allies as well as good dragons and dragonkind.
His sister and antithesis, Tiamat is his greatest enemy among others such as Yara and Lautan.
Bahamut, along with many others, have a grudging respect for the lord of Hell who keeps the oaths of his paladins.
