Sanguine Lands
Geography
The Sanguine Lands is made up primarily of dense, dark forests, soggy wetlands, and pockets of plains with many waterways running through the land - especially in the wet season. The most prominent mountain ranges in the southeast along the coast and the north bordering the region known as Lake Solace. To the few travelers who brave the forests of Trandrafia, they can seem almost clotrophobic at times, the branches of the trees weaving around to give a much more closed-in feel to the place. The plains near the center of the nation where an enormous plateau rises up with the divine city atop it are covered in vibrant red flowers that seem to stem from the holy city itself and have become a symbol for blessings of the Queen of that land. The Sanguine Lands are surrounded on three sides by ocean, with two main land routes in and out: one through the enemy territory of the Dawn Pricipalities to the west, and one to the north through the cursed forest known as the Forest of Graves. Due to this, few travelers arrive by foot to Trandrafia.
Localized Phenomena
Cosmology
While the cosmology of the world doesn't change much in these lands, there are a few differences scholars have noted compared to other lands whether in the way things are viewed physically or culturally.Echo Moon. The silver moon is the common moon of the world and so it remains in Trandrafia, but while it remains a shade of silver-blue in most of the world, scholars state that in the Sanguine lands, the moon seems to take on an almost reflective aspect. People have stated that they see the moon "reflecting" the color of the Blood Moon, or on nights when the Witch's Moon is full, the silver moon takes on its violet hue.
Queen's Moon / Blood Moon. Often called the Queen's Moon, the red "blood moon" is seen as a holy celestial object associated with the Red Queen in Trandrafia. This leads to a number of celebrations surrounding it when it becomes full in the last month of the year.
Witch's Moon. The Witch's Moon is ephemeral, only said to be seen in reflections on clear nights, or through the reflective nature of the Echo Moon. This moon is supernatural or unable to be seen with the naked eye. It is often associated among scholars with dreams and visions, while commoners often associate it with magic, hags, witches, and other unknowns.
