Lady Kara is one of the oldest to receive the title of Earl, having taken the title late in life when her older brother, Gregory Guston succumbed to his illness leaving no children as Heirs.
Due to her having already taken over much of the work managing Deep Wood and Ashton Keep during Gregory's period of illness, she slipped into the role easily. Unlike the other Earls, her family has no real solid claim to the Throne, but she is happy to remain neutral, showing no interest in seizing power above what she already has.
She is a stable, resilient and reliable Earl, happy to continue looking after Deep Wood, however with the untimely death of the Duke, she has been given the temporary role of Steward while the nation decides who shall take the mantle of Duke.
