Earl

Earl is the title given to Noble Lords in charge of a province or territory within the Duchy. Generally the title is hereditary, commonly passing to the eldest son, though there are no rules against a daughter inheriting. While a woman inheriting the title of Earl is not considered common, it is socially accepted and many women have held the title of Earl through the history of the Duchy.
