Elf

The Elven people are divided into three racial groups. They are fairly similar to humans in appearance, except that Elves have elongated, pointed ears, fine features and tend to all be of attractive and slender appearance. Elves are conditionally immortal, they do not age like other species and will not die of old age. Elves are also resistant to most diseases, they can however be killed by some sicknesses, poisons, physical trauma and similar.

Basic Information

Anatomy

While tending towards tall and lean, Elves find they lack the muscle density of Humans.
This results in them being lacking the strength and endurance that Humans display.

Genetics and Reproduction

Elves reproduce at a far slower rate than humans which keeps their population in check.
For one, Elves pair for life, a biological and mental bond is created between them, liking partners forever.
If an Elf’s mate dies, they cannot reproduce with another Elf.
Elves can pair with a Human, however such a pairing is considered taboo amongst more traditional Elves.
The reason is that a chromosome mismatch between Human and Elf parents, results in hybrid 'Half-Elf' children who while otherwise healthy are infertile and cannot reproduce.
Considering the unique biology of Elves that restricts them to one life partner, such a pairing effectively ends an Elf's bloodline.
Elves that fall in love with Humans can often face discrimination amongst their own communities so often end up migrating into Human cultures.

Growth Rate & Stages

Gestation period is usually 15 months compared to the human average of 9.
Elves also mature at a slower rate than other races, Elven children do not become adults till around 30 years old
