The Adventure so Far 12: Abominable Sewed Man
General Summary
The adventure began in the lower city of Arcasturm, where the party was introduced to Helza Wogglemeggle, a young gnome enforcer who was in search of someone.
As the group explored the city, they stumbled upon "The Chiseling Bodyparts", a peculiar shop of Cole, a Warforged known for his surgical abilities to reconnect limbs from one creature to another. But, upon entering the shop, the party was shocked to find Cole performing a seemingly dangerous procedure on a live Gnome , grafting parts of a wizard's brain onto the gnome's own.
Amdhi stumbled upon a ledger in Cole's shop, filled with records of his surgeries. Dilweed, with her sharp eye for detail, noticed a recurring name in the ledger, Thrakgar Wormchaser.
As the group delved further into their investigation, they came upon the Pillar of Enforcement, only to find the building abandoned and the enforcers within viciously slain by some unknown entity. Upstairs, the party discovered two surviving enforcers and the gnome witness from the tower of Animancy, Vanqaryn Fimbledomple, who was known to Garrett.
Garrett had been tasked by an enigmatic patron, "The Deep One," to end Vanqaryn's life as she had seen Garrett's soul and the leviathan believed she should not reveal it to anyone. Garrett played on the enforcers' anxieties and eventually convinced them to strike Vanqaryn down.
As the group ventured towards Thrakgar's residence, The Deep One spoke to Garrett once more, congratulating him on his successful task and granting him new power. But Thrakgar was not so easily defeated, as he attacked the party with his grotesque and altered tentacle arm, scorpion tail, and dragon-scaled face. However, the group fought valiantly and slayed Thrakgar, being celebrated as heroes by the city.
Thrakgar Wormchaser had been an Enforcer in Arcasturm, but suffered from a condition known as "Soulsickness." This condition is caused by having multiple souls in one's body, as a result of body modification or grafting, and can lead to the merging of memories and personalities of those souls. In Thrakgar's case, this resulted in his mind becoming overwhelmed by the emotions and experiences of the souls he had grafted onto himself. He became unstable, prone to erratic behavior and outbursts, as the different personalities within him struggled for control. Over time, the condition worsened, leading Thrakgar to become increasingly erratic and dangerous. He began to act out in violent ways, as the different personalities within him began to influence his actions and thoughts.
