CE Adventure 2 Report

General Summary

Outline

Session 1

A) Two weeks after Akis Blad's brazen attack on the Sekora Festival Parade, PCs are hired and picked up outside the Saebian Temple, where they have been staying at the High Priestesses' request, by Colonel Eskin Jivo to gather intel on Akis Blad's plans.
B) Colonel Jivo tries to stare down and crush PCs hands in the back seat of his electric humvee as he goes over their resumes.
C) PCs dropped off at small mining town, New Lanvia nestled at the base of the Saebian Alps. Mine workers had reportedly seen a group of about 15 Gurratan sugrans pass through town and up into the mountains. Jivo thinks the timing is suspicious and asks PCs to investigate.
D) PCs gather intel in town:
  • Derax and Fal talk to drunk mine workers at local bar and discover Baraz Du'al is paying 6k for a guide, Sojon Vadak, up to the Essok VI crash site. Sojon recognizes Derax's name and buys him a drink because of their shared ethnic background.
  • Nama notices a small pack of juvenile kainars at the base of cliff. After scaring off kainars, she discovers a dead sugran. Upon investigation, Fal recognizes schematics on dead sugran's cPad as old prototype tech, a dilectric prism, installed on Saebos immigration ships.
E) PCs decide to hurry to Essok VI crash site via the safer path in an attempt to acquire the dilectric prism before the group of sugrans or Baraz Du'al and his guide.
F) PCs hike at a grueling pace to the Essok VI. Thanks to Fal's computer use and Nama's quick katana, they are able to bypass locked doors. They encounter Tusiy Gorn, who begs for water. PCs aim guns at her head and tell her to stay quiet and go back to bed. Derax recognizes the symptoms of her disease as Erosive thraven—disease, and offers her his canteen... for keeps.

Session 2

A) PCs continue exploring the wrecked Essok VI:
  • Tusiy clings to legs of PCs and begs not to leave her. They leave her.
  • PCs set off a scav trap. Doors lock and poisonous gas leaks into room. Derax and Nama reset the computer console and disarm the trap successfully only moments before falling unconscious from the gas.
  • PCs access the main computer, unlock all doors, and register themselves as the new crew of the Essok VI. Nama registers herself as captain. Show Spoiler
When registering as captain of the Essok VI, Nama reveals her full name to be Nama Bi'ilu. Fal recognizes the original pilot of the Essok VI, Nissia Caraget, as a famous graduate of his pilot school on Prakyun
  • PCs find and acquire the DILECTRIC PRISM from the schematics they found on the dead sugran.
  • PCs decide to GTFO ASAP.
  • Four armed scavengers squatting in the Essok VI catch up with the PCs as they step outside. Nama escalates situation and intimidates them into backing down.
B) Baraz Du'al and his men, led to the crash site by Sojon, are waiting for PCs when they come out. After tense and distrustful negotiations, PCs agree to sell dilectric prism to Baraz for 50k. Baraz and fellow sugran promptly leave.
C) PCs decide to hire Sojon for 2k to help them follow and track Baraz to learn more. They follow into the late evening until Baraz and men go into a large rocky cave. PCs hear footsteps coming towards them. They hide, but when seeing it is Baraz, they stop him. He says his men have been attacked by a woserra.
D) PCs hike out of the valley up on to a cliff looking down towards the cave to camp for the night with Sojon and Baraz.

Session 3

A) AT CAMPFIRE. PCs are called by Colonel Jivo demanding actionable intel in the next 3 hours or he's cutting pay. PCs notice Baraz clandestinely on his phone. Nama draws her katana and moves towards Baraz, but Derax snatches the phone first and demands to know who's on the line.
B) Baraz openly admits he called for help to save his men. A dropship is coming in about 2 hours. He asks PCs to help save his friends' lives and in return will give them more info about Akis Blad. PCs agree to help.
C) Scavs from the Essok VI ambush the PCs at the campsite to steal the 50k, having overheard the deal that took place between PCs and Baraz. Nama's rage clouds her judgement and she charges into the dark towards a voice. She is shot in the leg and pulled to safety by T'lios. After a quick scuffle, three scavs are dead. Swin Hoppog, the last alive, raises his hands and attempts to surrender. The injured and enraged Nama invites Swin to come close towards the fire. She pulls out her katana and swings at his head. She cuts one forearm off and deep into his neck. She pulls back and swings again and decapitates the gurgling and suffocating Swin.
D) Sojon puts on a brave face, but is clearly shaken by the violence. The dying wish of Swin Hoppog was to take care of Tusiy. Derax pays Sojon 5k to take her down from the Essok VI to New Lanvia. Derax gave a veiled threat of violence if Sojon did not comply.
E) PCs loot the scavs.
F) PCs take Swin's dismembered arm as bait to lure the woserra out of its cave. They combine this with canned meat looted from the scavs. The lure works. As the woserra comes out of its den, Nama lays a direct burst into its head, doing massive damage, dispatching it in one swift blow.
G) Baraz's allies' dropship arrives and they enter the cave to help the surviving sugrans.
H) PCs press Baraz to hold up his end of the deal. They learn that Akis Blad's ultimate goal is to return his people to the sugran world ship that originally brought the sugran to Chellok. Blad needs the prism to develop a cloaking device to hide a clandestine high-altitude black sorium mine he is constructing illegally in the Saebian Alps.
I) Baraz goes into the cave to help his countrymen. PCs discuss and call in to Colonel Jivo. Jivo pays in full (20k) for the intel and expects a follow-up report.
J) PCs give Baraz the prism they held as collateral and get his contact info. Baraz gives them a backpack from the cave with more info they may find useful. Baraz leaves with his surviving countrymen on their dropship.
K) END.

Rewards Granted

Character Points
( ~5 per session, bonus for good RP or advancing/improving story, 10 for successful adventure completion)
Point totals should be reflected on your character sheets in Roll 20. Remember not to "meta-game" by spending points to fill in a weakness in your character that you've discovered during play. That is bad role-playing. You should spend your points on skills/attributes that make sense based on your character, from the story, or what your character is doing in-between adventuring while settling in to his/her new life on Chellok.

Notes

Inter-Adventure Play by Post

First, you need to make a World Anvil account. It's free. Second, make your character. Third, join the campaign:
I've never done this, so not sure exactly how it works, but please give it a try. Hopefully it will be a fun thing to do while gerrissing or on a break at work.    There are two Play-by-Post prompts below. Click the link and respond to the prompts. Use your imagination and make it fun. You can write in a narrative style like a book, including thoughts or lines your character says, or you can write in prose describing only, or you could write in the first person only as your character. I believe there should be an option to post things out-of-character if necessary.   There are two discussion board prompts to respond to. I tried to make this something that I would want to respond to as a player. Replies can be as short or as long and detailed as you like. I hope this will be fun and help us continue the game.

Settling In

Tue, Oct 26th 2021 01:20
After sending your final mission report to Colonel Jivo from your New Lanvia motel room, you feel a sense of accomplishment and sit back and relax. You realize it's been over three weeks since landing on Chellok. You've been staying at the Saebian Temple, rent free after earning the High Priestess' favor for returning the sacred stone. But before you left on this most recent adventure, the priestesses had been asking you to start paying rent and/or become an adherent and contribute labor to maintaining the temple.   Now it's time to finally start settling in on Chellok. With some recent income, you have the wherewithal to choose where you want to live. Do you find a house or apartment to rent in the small mining town of New Lanvia? Do you prefer living in the capital of Saebia? Do you keep your room at the Saebian Temple and start paying rent or otherwise become indebted to the High Priestess?   What else do you buy/do/spend your time doing as you find a place and settle in?

The Next Play

After a rather sleepless night camping near the woserra cave entrance, you slowly make the hike back down the mountain to New Lanvia. After resting for a night and recuperating [-$500 for room and board ($120/person)], you look through the pack Baraz Du'al gave you and find...
  • Unencrypted files about high-altitude physical training, exercises that help increase red-blood cell count, and modifications and maintenance for large construction equipment above 4500m.
  • A thick paper research report titled: "THE PRACTICAL EFFECTS OF EXTREME ELECTRICAL IMPEDANCE, REDIRECTION, AND STORAGE USING REFINED BLACK SORIUM."
  • Lists of emails and messages related to recruiting composite fusion engine researchers, and spaceship engineers offering generous pay.
  • An email BCC'd to [email protected] with details about hiring more helium-3 miners and increasing working hours and operation-scope at the Gelvon Orbital Mining Rig.
  • The four of you pilgrims are standing out on the porch of a motel looking out towards the waterfall of New Lanvia discussing your next move.
