New Lanvia

New Lanvia is a small mining town at the north-west edge of the Saebian Alps in the nation of Saebia. It is the location of Ariel Mine, which is the largest lithium mine in Saebia, owned and operated by Les Pondo (LP) Heavy Industries.

Geography

It is situated along a small mountain stream, Towano Stream, which eventually feeds into the main inland sea of the Chellokan continent. Only a half kilometer east of New Lanvia is a massive 200-meter cliff face that creates Ariel Falls. The wind and weather generated by the mountains often scatters the generally weak flow of the stream, creating a light mist that blankets the town. Mine workers jokingly credit this Ariel Falls mist with washing away the day's grime and dirt.

People

Most of New Lanvia's residents work as employees for the mining company, LP Heavy Industries. The rest of the population works as farmers or merchants supplying the town with necessities.
"New in town, you say? You lookin' to work in the mine? It's an honest day's work." — Smocratan, lithium miner.

Industry & Trade

New Lanvia's main export is lithium metal, which is used in many electronic devices on Chellok, especially those of Human manufacture. New Lanvian farmers also grow the kaldis plant, an edible grain-like plant native to Chellok. The reproductive spore of the plant, about 2cm in diameter is dried, cooked, and salted. These 'kaldis treats' are popular in New Lanvia and also exported to the capital city of Saebia. The snack high in protein and often eaten by mine workers to maintain stamina during shifts.
