The Museum of Science and Industry
The Museum of Science and Industry (MSI) is located in the Hyde Park neighborhood between Lake Michigan and The University of Chicago. It is housed in the former Palace of Fine Arts from the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. Among the museum's exhibits are a full-size replica coal mine, a German submarine U-505 captured during World War II, a 3,500-square-foot model railroad, the command module of Apollo 8, and the first diesel-powered streamlined stainless-steel passenger train (Pioneer Zephyr).
For several years now the museum has been under consideration by both Prince Reinhold Fisher and Keeper of Elysium Avery Winchell for inclusion as the next Elysium. It has not yet been so designated; instead it acts as a suitable site for Kindred gatherings which do not call for the formality of Elysium or Court.
History
There are two sides of debate regarding the MSI's status as a potential Elysium, most of which has to do with its location. No one disputes its suitability.
Due to geography, Clan interests, Clan assets, and a number of other factors the museum is handled behind the scenes by Primogen Takanashi Kinshi and Hayden Green (who handles minor oversight in her name). Both feel that the declaration of Elysium would be a proper feather in the cap of the Tremere Clan after all they have done for the good of Chicago. Primogen Hush agrees with them and supports their bid for it to be used in this manner (possibly owing to his friendship with Primogen Takanashi, probably also for reasons of his own).
Keeper Winchell opposes the move for both aesthetic and practical reasons. For one thing, he says, Chicago doesn't need a fourth Elysium. It just hasn't come up that often. More practically, he knows how difficult it would be to accomplish a complete transition of ownership from the Tremere to himself. The likelihood that they would leave spies behind, or possibly refuse to give it over at all, worries him.
Primogen Jasmine Ross and Primogen Frederick Kijek agree with Keeper Winchell. The former simply says she supports her grand-childe's assessment, but most believe her motive to be consolidating the Toreador's newfound political power. The latter claims that he takes no sides, but in reality he is secretly and subtly undermining the effort for reasons of his own.
Prince Fisher has yet to make a determination.
