Mysterious Cave

A cave containing ruins of a mysterious settlement created before the Fall. Theentrance to the cave is hidden in a forest near Dulduram. None who enter the cave come back alive, which is why the few Copper Dwarves that know of the place warn against going there. The end of the cave contains a large lake that is illuminated through small holes in the top of the cave. Though the lake appears shallow, only a meter or so, it has no bottom; the water rests upon nothing but air and is kept up by a mysterious magical force. Underneath the lake, there is another cave, containing the ruins of the pre-fall civilization. At the center of this room, there is a small island with a large magical tree.

Plot

Einar Ranvirson and his friends secretly travel towards this cave in the dead of night in 1118, despite being warned not to. Once they reach the lake, Sigvid Varinsson decides to jump into the water, as he believed to see treasure at the bottom. The water is much deeper than anticipated, and Sigvid rapidly sinks to the bottom as he cannot swim. His brother, Thorlak Ospaksson, quickly dives in after Sigvid, despite not being able to swim either. This forces Einar and Celyne to jump in as well, as both of them can swim. It is here that the group is ambused by Goblins and taken to the Goblin village.
