Al' Fiandra

Al’ Fiandra is Lustris' most wealthy city as well as cultural capital. The city is divided in 4 different quadrants. The outer quadrant is mainly farmland, large stretches of fertile soil, accompanied with beautiful walking routes to clear the mind. The second quadrant is considered the residency quadrant. It is the entire area just outside the wall. Here, many of the Fiandrans live. The third quadrant is what people refer to as ‘’in the city’’. The city contains many opportunities and interesting places. Inns, bakeries, homes, markets, taverns, whatever, it has nearly everything. The final quadrant is home to the nobility of the city. This is a large gated community.   Most notable about Al' Fiandra is the fact that it is extremely wealthy. Quests will yield large rewards, but the cost of living is high as well! From high level gear to rare items, this city truly has it all!

Demographics

General

Most inhabitants are well endowed, to say the very least. However, there is a clear distinction between the three major groups which reside in Al' Fiandra. These groups are split into the following classes: the nobility, the middle class, and the lower class. These classes each have their own culture and ways of interacting with adventurers.

Nobility

The nobility of Al’ Fiandra fund many different campaigns and projects. Their wealth is the backbone of this city, and thus they have a lot of influence. There are a total of 5 families of true nobility which are held in high regard. These families are extremely wealthy, and extremely influential. They barely interact with anyone from the middle class directly, typically they will have their lackeys fetch things from the city. Besides these 5 families, there are other nobles of various degrees, but none are held in as high regard as the big 5. Most nobles live in the ''Golden Heights'' which is the common name for the upper city.

Middle class

This includes some nobles, as well as high ranking jobs. Think of things as professors, officers, alchemists, arcanists or healers. Most of these live comfortably in the city where they enjoy their lives. Being middle class, these people do not stand out much, but when compared to the ''common'' middle class, these people are relatively rich. The middle class resents neither the nobility nor the lower class, and are typically open minded.

Lower class

The lower class consists of the farmers, miners, brewers, tavern owners, etc. These people work hard to maintain their businesses and lives, sometimes through illegal means. These people live just outside the city, in the living area. They don't openly hate the nobility, nor do they like the nobility. Most people here appreciate hard work, honesty and modesty. The lower class typically views the nobility as spoiled, and thus doesn't take them seriously.

Infrastructure

The High street

It costs a lot of work to maintain the largest and busiest street in the entire city. The High street is nearly 50 meters broad, and runs straight through the city. It is not as much a street as it a square for markets, festivals and performances. It leads all the way up to the Golden Heights and is rarely calm.

The Sewers

Underneath the cities lies a complex sewage network. Some rumor that the sewers contain many hidden passage ways, leading to secret hideouts...

Districts

Golden Heights

Home to the nobility of Al Fiandra! Contrary to most beliefs, there is quite little to see here as an outsider. Most streets are quite empty, and most houses and gardens are obscured by large fences, walls, and foliage. There are some squares and nice routes along the mountain which can be trodden by foot, or cariage! Before entering the Golden Heights, guests will need identification papers to gain access, else they will be stopped. Should adventurers find themselves without identification papers, they run the risk of being arrested.

The City

The city brims with live and movement! The houses are grand, and beautifully constructed! Colourful rooftops, lushes plants, vibrant glass and lead windows, and eccentric clothes make up the general decorum. There are also many vendors, stores, and facilities to visit!

Prices and popularity

Popular stores These stores have gained a lot of succes, and have a large staff, allowing them to get everything handcrafted within a day.   Base price of any item = 3x normal price for ‘’same day’’ delivery. Base price of any item = 2x normal prices for 1 day queue Base price of any item = normal price for 2 day queue   Special requests can be done here, the price may vary.   Any item bought here has the ‘’durable’’ aspect. Which makes it immune to attacks which can degrade armour quality. It also has the ‘’Craftsmanship’’ aspect, allowing players to establish themselves within the city as renowned fighters/mages/people. This will increase their status/recognition.   Mid tier stores:   Base price of any item = 1.5x normal price for same day delivery. Base price of any item = normal for 1 day que Base price of any item = 0.5x normal price for 3 day que.   Mid tier stores can do special requests, but generally will take longer than popular stores.   Lower tier stores: These stores still have to grow in size, so they take on all requests. Basically, the stores offer everything at base 0,75x base price, but upon arrival, the player needs to roll a d6. This is how many days it will take to finish said item.   Lower tier stores can and will establish fixed customers. This will help the store grow, and will come with serious benefits for the person who helps the store owner!

Outer City

When you need to keep a low profile, get up to some mischief and debauchery, or when you're struggling to get around, the Outer City offers some alternatives to those in the different city. Mainly; most supplies and services are much cheaper, but also of poorer quality. The real benefits of the Outer City, is that most people are willing to earn a little extra cash. Some bar tenders have connections which may lead to some very powerful people, for a price. Or, perhaps you're not looking to get into the dark underbelly of the city, but just looking out for some rumours, as long as you're willing to either pay or work for it, the Outer City can help you out...

The Farmlands

Run by a tight-knit community, the farmlands provide food for the Fiandrans. Most people from the farmlands rarely go into the city. Exceptions are made for getting tools, or moving the produce to the vendors. The farmes are much more down to earth than the city folk. At first glance, there is little for adventurers to do here. Once the outsiders have proven themselves, the farmers will open up and welcome the players to their culture.

Smithies

Baptism of Fire

The smell of sulfur and powder fills the surrounding air, from the outside, even the walls of the house are hot to the touch. Baptism of Fire is run by Zobock Brazz a Tiefling. Zobock does not speak of their history, but it is clear that his forge runs on the fires of hell. Zobock is a master smith, and specializes in armour imbued with magical properties, or made from hellish alloys.

Iron Woman

A long ashen haired goliath woman named Ash, runs the forge. The forge looks neat, and well structured. In both appearance and manners there is a clear ''no nonsense'' approach to running her business. Ash is a master smith, and specializes in plain armours. Making heavy armour lighter, without compromising protection, or working with different alloys.

The Clank Tank

Tools, spare parts, and coffee cups are littered everywhere, in the midst of it stands a proud gnome. Triplefrynn Kegelstrauss is a talented Artificer/Smith who has yet to find their true calling, but professionals refer to him as a diamond in the rough. In general, Triplefrynn can get most common orders done, but the real magic happens when he goes the extra mile. What that is, depends on your relation with him...

General stores

Dreamcrafts

Dreamcrafts is a clothing store by the esteemed Silvia Fremmer. Silvia is actually a wizard, and uses the weave to imbue her silk with different illusions and enchantments. When entering the store, you have to go through the front door, and then into a portal. The real store is actually in a demi-plane she created. The demi-plane looks like a large birdcage. Instead of being open, the cage is covered with large glass planes, sealing the inside from the outside. When looking through the glass, the players can see into the astral sea or the ethereal plane.

Sweet Seams

Gale Blake is a very upcoming artist within the fashion community, however he has yet to prove himself. He is ambitious, hardworking and self-reliant! Gale mainly focuses on common clothing, trying to improve on basic sewing methods, until they become second nature. He is currently known for making formal clothes, feel extremely comfortable, thus he chose to continue under his own brand ''Sweet Seams''.

Alchemists

The Lab of documented Alchemy

Parabalin's Alchemy

Run by Nerf Parabalin, this deep gnome sells many potions, and can make nearly everything! He sells highly graded potions, for cheaper prices, as long as people are willing to do some dirty work. Parabilin is a clean freak, and does not like to leave his sterile environment, hence he asks adventurers to fetch the resources needed for the desired potion.

Magic shops

The Mirror Pillar

A large chrome pillar stands out against the otherwise colourful decorum of the city. The pillar is cylindrical in shape, and has a conical top. The pillar seems to be made out of some form metal, and is polished to perfection. On the inside is a wizard named Shayne of Kaedwick. Shayne is an expert on illusion magic, and sells scrolls and other magic items.

The Fire Spire

A large cylinderical bronze tower portrudes from the ground. The tower seem perfectly polished, much like the Mirror Pillar. However, this tower has a flat top. Inside is Lyphia of Kaedwick, an Evocation wizard, and sister to Shayne.

Tavern & Inns

Sandman's

Inn From the outside, Sandman´s does not look like any other Inn. The building is shaped like a large disk, made from black bricks. The windows seem tinted with a purpleish hue, obscuring the view from curious eyes. The inside is a dimly-lit open room, filled with sleeping bags, comfortable sofas, and thick, woolly blankets. Scattered through out the room are tiny gaps. Different pleasant effects are released from these gaps. Bubbles, nice smells and relaxing music. The owner of the establishment Aglirion t'Vere walks around and brings sweet dreams to the weary and exhausted.

The Busy Orc

Inn/Tavern Gaff the orc stand proud behind his bar. This establishment, The Busy Orc, is not for the faint of heart. Gaff oversees everything the happens from the bar. This is possible due to the layout of the room. The bar itself is placed upon a raised section of floor, whereas the rest of the tavern formed like a square arena.

The Silent Garden

Inn/Tavern Small domes are spread through out the city. These domes offer food, water and shelter to those in need. There are no costs involved when using these domes, instead adventurers have to bargain with the sentient plants to gain access. The sentient plants are part of a network run by Maeve Delain, a druid. She wants to give people an insentive to take care of the environment, and be more mindful of their surroundings.
