Citadel Isle

Located off of the coast of the Duchy of Durham and Kingdom of Arcadia, Citadel Isle was set aside by royal decree of the Alengor Dynasty in 500 CE to be the location for a school of magic, eventually to be known itself as The Citadel.
After the fall of the Alengor Dynasty it remained under joint rule of the Dumas Empire and Kingdom of Arcadia, until it was granted autonomous rule in 1000 CE.
Selected in part for already having a standing castle (which has since been greatly expanded) but also for its distance from populated areas thus deeming it a safe place to train those with the gift of magic to control it without endangering civilians.
In addition to The Citadel and its affiliate organizations, the College of Bards and The Library, there is also a thriving village of farmers and fishers that help supply the school with food.
