Geography

Thoroughfare is the land bridge between the north and south, its north and south are guarded by a wall of mountains, whilst its east and west are left open to the sea, it is a mostly dry arid land with 3 large lakes spread out across its territory these lakes are called the Tear Lakes. The north of the land bridge fades away to soft grasslands.

Fauna & Flora

Thoroughfare is home to many insects and mammals who have adapted to the dry landscape, not to mention the many birds that migrate through the region every year.   Due to its dry nature little fauna grows in the southern region however in the wetter regions in the north various crops are grown to feed the people of the Thoroughfare.

The Thoroughfare Wars   Both the Kingdom of Falradia and Empire of Duram claimed ownership of Thoroughfare as they had both established colonies in the region, this led to several wars between the two nations.   Upon conclusion of the Second Thoroughfare War the Archduchy of Thoroughfare was born as a independent state separate to both nations so that neither could claim ownership of the land.   This incidentally lead to another war where the fledgling Archduchy barely managed to fend off the Empire to the South whilst having to deal with the slow but steady takeover by the Falradians as they entered the war as "reinforcements to assist the beleaugered Thoroughfarian Army"
