Magma Engine
the super secret and super new technology currently being developed by The Confederation of Inovation. this device if it works will be a power generator that creates geothermal power without the use of a volcano. The device works by having chamber walls that maintain a constant and very high heat which melts the rocks inside. Those melted rocks then swirl, push and bubble against the massive piston laying atop of the chamber. The piston goes around and around as the magma moves it. this piston movement translates into geothermal power that could theoretically power a foundry. This technology has yet to work as they cannot find a way to replenish the rocks after they slow and cool.
Utility
If it works it will be a stable form of energy, though not renewable like the volcano version.
Manufacturing
the chamber must be built on the ground, then rocks and pistons must be put in before the power can be started.

Complexity
Complex as heck, with special materials having to be created to make the chamber shell and some creature with heat abilities to first heat it up. Also requires regular reheating once in use and regular replenishment of rocks. also they need to find some way to get the old magma out without turning off the machine.
Discovery
Humans and Fairies wondered whether sufficient heat could create magma from rocks, they were right and decided to try making an artificial volcano.
