Brenmarr
A circle of stone monoliths located on a grassy hill deep in the Great North Wood. The area around the hill is surrounded by a broad meadow. On the eastern side of the meadow is a small settlement of wooden houses with brightly painted trim and thatched roofs. The settlement is home to a coven of Khanna worshiping witches. They maintain a guest house for pilgrims and a small orphanage for foundling girls. The witches are the keepers of the Circle, which is a sacred site for the goddess worshipers. The witches have good relations with the surrounding communities of forest tribes and act as neutral arbiters for their disputes. They maintain small flocks of goats and sheep, and vegetable gardens.
Demographics
The population includes the coven of 13 witches, 6 apprentice witches, a blacksmith, two wood cutters, a potter, a carpenter, a huntsman and 12 orphans ranging from ages 1 to 12.
Government
The Coven governs the settlement mainly through consensus, but in religious matters the head of the coven may take direct control.
Defences
The village has no visible defenses other than a wooden fence of about 5' in height meant to keep out wandering animals and keep in livestock that has gotten out of the pens. The witches can expect assistance from the surrounding forest tribes if threatened and are thought to have several guardian animals in the area. But perhaps the greatest defense are the witches themselves who can supplement their own magical power with the great energies built up in the circle.
Infrastructure
The village includes 12 houses, a guest house, an orphanage, a stable and a large barn. Several fenced enclosures for animals are near the barn. Each house also had a fenced garden enclosure.
