Shekel

Shekel is a Gargoyle deckhand who serves aboard the Nomad. His stone skin affords him protection while leaving him nimble enough to fly. Surprisingly strong, Shekel can carry others by flying on their shoulders like a winged backpack. While shekel is unable to speak, he is fairly intelligent for a Gargoyle, communicating his thought in writing with a notebook that he carries. When not ferrying his comrades in battle, Shekel usually serves as a backup lookout to cover when Itthis or Appoline are not available.   He grew up in Gargoyle Peak on Nimbus, but was enslaved by a tribe of savages whose brains had been damaged by Helioschosis called the Haole. Unlike the rest of his bretheren, Shekel refused to submit to the Haole's attempts to tame him, and was locked in a cage for his stubbornness. The Party freed him when visiting Gargoyle Peak in search of a cure for the Helioschosis bacteria that turned the moon's wildlife to stone when exposed to the sun.
