White Druids

White Druids are Geit who forgo the shelter of embermuur cities to live above the glaciers of Jotun in harmony with the Shrikevind and fire giants. High walls of the glaciers protect most Geit communities, but the druids live above the ice to commune with the natural forces of the planet. Some say that ancient pacts with Jotun itself forbid the Shrikevind from passing through druid enclaves; others say that the druid elders possess secret maps of the winds’ course that dictate their enclave’s movements. Regardless it is no secret that all Geit Druids have a certain power over the winds. The Fractured Histories cite several instances where druids have managed to calm the Shrikevind for brief periods, and one account even describes a druid single handedly destroying two warring Clans by commanding the Shrikevind against them.     The White Druids worship the Geit Saint Shrike, making them pariahs amidst early Geit settlers who viewed him as a betrayer god. Nevertheless, to the druid who wander the glaciers, Shrike is a symbol of freedom and transcendence. The Druids still travel to The Forge on Jotun's North Pole where Shrike's grave is located to nurture fledgling zephyrs who roost there.   How much the druid interact with greater Geit society depends on faction. Some tribes, like the Yggdrasil or silent Blue Oarsmen lend their expertise to Geit clans by serving as thrall clans. Others, prefer to stay solitary in the White Druid Enclave near Jotun's North Pole.   In times of great danger, such as the Koan Empire's conquest of Jotun, the white druids will send members of their tribes into the Shrikevind. While many outsiders view this practice as a barbaric act of sacrifice, in truth it is one of preservation. The White Druids' connection with the Shrikevind allows them to ride it through space and time, travelling on its back to (what is hopefully) a better future.
